    Updated Honda WR-V’s prices start from Rs. 8.50 lakh and go up to Rs. 9.70 lakh for the petrol-manual powertrain. On the other hand, petrol-manual Tata Nexon starts from Rs. 6.95 lakh and goes up to Rs. 10.60 lakh. So, Nexon has a lower starting price but its top variant is more expensive than WR-V’s top variant.

    For the diesel-manual powertrain, Honda WR-V facelift’s prices start from Rs. 9.80 lakh and go up to Rs. 10.99 lakh. On the other hand, Tata Nexon diesel-manual starts from Rs. 8.45 lakh and goes up to Rs. 12.10 lakh. In the diesel’s case too, Tata Nexon has a lower starting price but its top-of-the-line variant is more expensive compared to the WR-V.

    Honda WR-V is 3999mm long, 1734mm wide and 1601mm tall and rides on a wheelbase measuring 2555mm. The Honda WR-V has a boot space of 363 litres. On the other hand, the Tata Nexon measures 3993mm in length, 1811mm in width and 1606mm in height. The wheelbase of Tata Nexon is 2498mm and it has a boot space of 350 litres.

    A wider body normally results in better shoulder room inside the car while a higher roof makes it easier to get in and out of the car. A higher ground clearance makes it easier to go over tall speed breakers or drive on broken roads. The wheelbase is the distance between the centre of the front and rear wheels. A longer wheelbase often results in more cabin space. A larger boot allows you to carry more luggage.

    WR-V 1.2 Normal Petrol Vs Nexon 1.2L Turbo Petrol

    The updated Honda WR-V continues to get a 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder normal petrol engine that makes 90PS of maximum power and 110Nm of peak torque. It is available with a 5-speed manual transmission and returns an ARAI-rated fuel-efficiency figure of 16.5kmpl.

    Tata Nexon gets a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that makes 120PS of maximum power and 170Nm of peak torque. It is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AMT automatic transmission. The Nexon petrol manual has a fuel-efficiency of 17.57kmpl while the automatic claims to return a figure of 16.35kmpl.

    Is Honda WR-V Better Than Tata Nexon?

    The entry-level price of WR-V is Rs. 8.50 lakh and that of Tata Nexon is Rs. 6.95 lakh (both ex-showroom). In the case of diesel, the price of the base variant of Honda WR-V is Rs. 9.80 lakh and Tata Nexon is Rs. 8.45 lakh (both ex-showroom). Entry-level price of Tata Nexon is lower. So it is more affordable. Granted, that even the base variant of the WR-V is fairly well loaded and has the features to go toe-to-toe with a similarly priced variant of the Nexon.

    In terms of dimensions, Nexon is a bigger car compared to WR-V. So, the Nexon will have better road presence than the WR-V. The Nexon also has a significantly better ground clearance, which is about 20mm more than WR-V’s.

    For the petrol-manual powertrain, Nexon's engine offers more torque, so it is expected to offer better driveability compared to WR-V's engine. The Nexon petrol isn’t just more powerful and torquier, it’s also more fuel-efficient. Since its torque comes early in the rev range, you won’t have to wring the throttle every time to get acceleration. Thus, real-life fuel efficiency figures of the Nexon petrol will be much better than the WR-V’s.

    As far as diesel manual powertrain is concerned, Nexon's engine offers more torque, so it is expected to offer better driveability compared to WR-V's engine. If you're looking for a car with a low running cost then WR-V will be better since its engine is more fuel-efficient. So in most of the cases, Nexon appears to be the better car of the two. Not to mention, it’s the only car in this comparison to offer an automatic transmission option - with both the engines.
