Is the Hyundai Tucson better than the Tata Harrier?

Price of the base variant of Hyundai Tucson is Rs. 22.30 lakh and Tata Harrier is Rs. 13.69 lakh (both ex-showroom).

In terms of dimensions, the Harrier is a size larger than the Tucson and it shows - on the spec sheet and in person. For rough-roading, the Tucson’s low ground clearance may pose a problem. However, if you intend to drive in low-traction situations like gravel, snow or slush, then the Tucson’s optional AWD system can prove its worth.

And guess what, even with the heavier all-wheel-drive system the Tucson diesel automatic is more fuel-efficient than the Harrier automatic. And it has a better torque-to-weight ratio as well. What it loses out in dimensions, it makes up in powertrain. Not to mention, there’s the option of a fairly frugal petrol engine as well.

The Tucson further tries to justify the higher upfront costs by offering more features than the Harrier.
