The turbo petrol engine with the auto-clutch manual transmission (ACMT) is available in 2 variants — HTK Plus and HTX Plus. These cost Rs. 15.45 lakh and Rs. 18.73 lakh, respectively. Compared to the HTK Plus normal petrol-manual, the turbo petrol engine costs Rs. 1.39 lakh more. Besides better power and torque output, it also adds the convenience of auto-clutch manual transmission, which makes driving it in stop-and-go traffic extremely convenient.

Meanwhile, the turbo petrol engine with a dual-clutch automatic transmission is available in 5 variants with ex-showroom prices in the range of Rs. 19.40 lakh and Rs. 20.34 lakh. The DCT automatic costs Rs. 1.0 lakh more than the comparable variant with the turbo petrol auto-clutch.

Kia Seltos Petrol HTE - Base Model Standard Features

The base model of the Seltos facelift costs Rs. 10.90 lakh and it’s only available with a 1.5L normal petrol-manual powertrain. It gets the following features as standard:

A few essential features are missing in the HTE variant. More importantly, these are also not easy to install from the aftermarket with good fit and finish. Still, the next HTK variant is not a good value upgrade. So, if you're on a budget, then you should buy the base model of the Seltos facelift and add aftermarket or dealer-level accessories instead of spending on a higher variant.

The HTK variant also gets the same 1.5L normal petrol-manual powertrain option and costs Rs. 12.24 lakh. This price is Rs. 1.34 lakh more than the base model of the Seltos facelift.

Moreover, considering the poor value for money score of this trim, we’ll suggest you skip upgrading to this variant if you’re interested in a somewhat feature-loaded variant. If you’re on a tight budget, then consider buying the lower HTE variant and accessorising it per your needs and preferences.

Kia Seltos Petrol HTK vs HTK Plus Variant - Price, Feature Comparison

Besides the 1.5L normal petrol-manual, the HTK Plus variant also adds the 1.5L normal petrol-automatic and 1.5L turbo petrol-ACMT powertrain options. This variant costs Rs. 14.06 lakh with the normal petrol-manual, Rs. 15.42 lakh with the automatic and Rs. 15.45 lakh with the turbo petrol-auto-clutch.

The HTK Plus petrol-manual variant costs Rs. 1.82 lakh more than the lower HTK variant. Compared to this one, the upgrade to turbo petrol-ACMT costs Rs. 1.39 lakh more and to normal petrol-automatic costs Rs. 1.36 lakh.

Since the HTK Plus variant also doesn't get a few critical features, we expect from a car at this price point, we’ll suggest skipping this variant too. In terms of value for money, though, the addition of a panoramic sunroof with the non-turbo engine makes it a decent option. However, the higher HTX is our top recommendation for Seltos buyers.

If you’re interested in an affordable turbo petrol variant, then the HTK Plus with the auto-clutch manual transmission is a good option.

The HTX variant of the Seltos only gets a normal petrol engine with manual and CVT-type automatic transmission options. It costs Rs. 1.24 lakh to Rs. 1.30 lakh more than the lower HTK Plus variant. With the manual transmission, it carries an ex-showroom price of Rs. 15.30 lakh. With the automatic, it costs Rs. 16.72 lakh, which is Rs. 1.42 lakh more than the manual.

The HTX variant adds the following features to the list:

• Wireless Android Auto and Apple Carplay (available with smaller touchscreen in lower variants)
• Wireless phone charger
• Ventilated front seats (much more important because of less breathable leather upholstery)

The HTX variant seems to get a good number of features to offer a balanced ownership experience. In this variant, the Seltos also gets an automatic transmission with the 1.5L normal petrol engine. If you want a feature-packed variant with the 1.5L normal petrol engine, then the HTX is a good option for manual as well as automatic buyers. The HTX is also the most value for money variant with the normal petrol engine. This recommendation is valid for buyers interested in the Seltos manual as well as automatic transmission.

HTX Plus variant onwards, the Seltos 2024 is only available with the turbo petrol engine. It costs Rs. 18.73 lakh with the turbo petrol-ACMT and Rs. 19.73 lakh with automatic. Compared to the HTK Plus turbo-ACMT, the HTX Plus variant is Rs. 3.28 lakh more expensive. With the turbo petrol engine, the automatic transmission costs another Rs. 1.0 lakh for the convenience of not having to change the gears manual.

The HTX Plus variant adds the following features over and above what the HTX gets:

In this variant, you may mainly miss ADAS-related features, which is exclusively available with the turbo petrol-automatic powertrain in the GTX Plus and X-Line variants.

The upgrade cost to the HTX Plus turbo petrol is too high for the additional performance and features. It’s not worth buying the HTX Plus variant as it’s not a good value upgrade. Consider stretching your budget for a higher variant. You should consider the HTX Plus variant only if you want the Seltos turbo and absolutely can’t stand the inclusion of ADAS feature.

The GTX Plus variant of the Seltos 2024 is only available with the turbo petrol-automatic powertrain. It costs Rs. 20.0 lakh and is Rs. 27,000 pricier than the lower HTX Plus trim.

For Rs. 60,000  less than the GTX Plus and Rs. 43,000 less than the HTX Plus, you can buy the GTX Plus (S) variant. It costs Rs. 19.40 lakh (ex-showroom) and it brings most of the ADAS features to the mix.

X-Line is the top model of the Seltos 2024 and it costs Rs. 20.35 lakh (ex-showroom). This price is Rs. 35,000 more than the GTX Plus. For Rs. 70,000 less, you could also buy the X Line (S) variant, which doesn’t get a few features.

The X-Line variant gets the following extra features:

Just like the GTX Plus variant, you may miss the following features in the X-Line variant also:

Considering the value the GTX Plus offers with the addition of ADAS features, even the X-Line and X Line (S) manage to more than justify the incremental cost over the lower variants. So, from a value standpoint, it’s a good upgrade. However, this is mostly a cosmetic upgrade.

Which Variant Of The 2024 Kia Seltos Petrol Should You Buy?

Among the 1.5L normal petrol engine options, the only 2 options we’re comfortable recommending are the base HTE and the top-spec HTX trims. For automatic buyers, only the HTX earns our top recommendation. The HTK Plus is just about okay in terms of value and the HTX is likely to offer a far superior ownership experience with its longer list of features and a slightly better value proposition.

Among the turbo petrol variants as well, for buyers interested in the auto-clutch transmission, the HTK Plus is the best option. If you’re interested in getting better value or an automatic transmission, then you can buy any variant except the HTX. They all offer phenomenal value for money. If you absolutely don’t want to have ADAS features, only then the HTX is worth considering.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The 2024 Kia Seltos Petrol?

The Kia Seltos comes with 2 petrol engine options - a 1.5L normal petrol and a 1.5L turbo petrol. Both of these engines get a 6-speed manual but they bring different automatic transmission tech. The normal petrol gets an easy-going CVT automatic while the energetic turbo petrol engine gets an equally quick 7-speed DCT automatic.

Among the base petrol engines, the Elevate has the best power output but the C3 Aircross has the best torque output. A turbo engine has a much stronger lower and mid-RPM performance and they offer much better drivability than a non-turbo vehicle.

The Seltos normal petrol has middle-of-the-road performance that’s acceptable for most buyers but it’s nothing exciting.

In terms of mileage too, the Seltos is satisfactory but not class-leading like the Hyryder and Vitara twins.

Compared to the top petrol engines of C-segment SUVs, the Seltos turbo offers class-leading power and torque output, only matched by the Creta.

The Seltos turbo also has satisfactory mileage figures. But, the Vitara and Hyryder hybrid are in a different league altogether with almost 28kmpl ARAI mileage numbers. While these twins have lowly power and torque figures, their drivability is actually not that bad because of the off-peak torque from the electric motor. In this segment, only the Astor turbo and the Japanese twins (Vitara and Hyryder) have a 3-cylinder engine. All others offer a smoother 4-cylinder engine.

What Are The Dimensions Of The 2024 Kia Seltos Facelift?

The Seltos is among the longer cars of its segment and it’s fairly wide too. The Elevate, in particular, stands out with its best-in-class boot space and ground clearance. Both of these figures are noticeably better than the rest of the cars of this class. The other notable detail about the Seltos is that it’s the only car in its segment with 18-inch wheels; besides its sibling Creta, of course.

The C3 Aircross’ claim to fame here is that it’s the only car with the option of 7-seats. Especially with the 7-seat configuration, it has the best-in-class boot space once you remove the 3rd row seats.
