    Kia Seltos also gets a 1.5L petrol 4-cylinder engine that makes 115PS of maximum power and 144Nm of peak torque. It is available with a 6-speed manual and a CVT type automatic transmission. The Kia Seltos petrol manual has a fuel-efficiency of 16.8kmpl while the automatic claims to return a figure of 16.8kmpl.

    The Hyundai Venue gets a 1.2L 4-cylinder normal petrol engine that makes 83PS of maximum power and 114Nm of peak torque. It is available with a 5-speed manual transmission and returns a fuel-efficiency of 17.27kmpl. This engine is not available in higher variants and its performance is barely acceptable. So, you only get basic features if you buy the Venue with the 1.2-litre engine but it has a significant price advantage.

    There’s also a 1.0L 3-cylinder turbo petrol engine that makes 120PS of maximum power and 172Nm of peak torque. It is available with a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT type automatic transmission. The turbo petrol has an ARAI-certified fuel efficiency figure of 18.2kmpl with the manual and 18.15kmpl with the automatic.

    • The Venue 1.0 turbo is more powerful than the Seltos 1.5.
    • This turbo petrol engine produces more torque than Seltos's 1.5-litre normal petrol engine.
    • Venue petrol is also more fuel-efficient than all of the Seltos’ petrol engine-transmission options.
    • Only the Seltos turbo petrol engines offer good torque and better drivability than the Venue.

    Price of the base variant of Kia Seltos is Rs. 9.89 lakh and Hyundai Venue is Rs. 6.70 lakh (both ex-showroom). The Venue is much smaller than the Seltos and also a lot cheaper.

    In terms of dimensions, Seltos is bigger and therefore it’ll have far better road presence than the Venue.

    For petrol powertrain, Venue's turbo petrol engine offers more torque than the Seltos 1.5. So it will offer better driveability.

    For diesel powertrain, Seltos's engine offers more torque but the Venue’s torque to weight ratio is much better. So, it will offer better driveability compared to Seltos diesel.

    The Hyundai Venue just offers better fuel efficiency than the Seltos across the board. So, it’ll have lower fuel costs.
