    Petrol Engine Review

    • The Creta has more powerful engines than the S-Cross.
    • The Creta's engines produce more torque than the S-Cross' but the S-Cross’ torque-to-weight ratio is actually similar to that of the Creta 1.5. So, they’ll have similar driving characteristics.
    • The Creta turbo, however, is at least a couple notches better than the SCross as it has diesel-like torque from as low as 1500rpm.
    • The S-Cross petrol engine is more fuel-efficient than the Creta.

Is the Maruti Suzuki S-Cross better than the Hyundai Creta?

Price of the base variant of Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is Rs. 8.39 lakh and Hyundai Creta is Rs. 9.99 lakh (both ex-showroom).

You can see that price difference when you see the two cars in person. The Creta is larger than the S-Cross in almost every manner. The same feeling carries over to the cabin of the Creta, which costs a lot more but also gives a lot more. It has several extra featuers over the S Cross. And if you pick the turbo petrol engine, then it’ll feel like you’re driving a car from a higher segment altogether. It has almost 50% better torque-to-weight ratio and torque spread wide at all the right RPMs to aid in your everyday driving.

Besides the prices, the only place where the S-Cross can punch back is in terms of fuel efficiency. Its hybrid engine has better mileage figures and they don’t seem to suffer from any impact from the addition of a gas-guzzling torque-converter automatic.
