A longer wheelbase often results in more cabin space. A larger boot allows you to carry more luggage.

Is the MG Hector Plus better than the Maruti Suzuki XL6?

Price of the base variant of MG Hector Plus is Rs. 13.49 lakh and Maruti Suzuki XL6 is Rs. 9.85 lakh (both ex-showroom). The Maruti Suzuki XL6 is cheaper across the board. In fact, you can buy the top-spec XL6 variant with the automatic transmission and still have about Rs. 2.0 lakh to spare compared to the most affordable option of the Hector Plus.

In terms of dimensions, Hector Plus is much bigger than the XL6. It also has better ground clearance but the XL6 has a respectable clearance too. The XL6 surprises with its better boot space despite much smaller dimensions. With the last row seats folded, the Hector+ manages to close the gap a bit but the XL6 maintains a clear upper hand. The XL6 is adequately spacious.

For petrol engine, Hector Plus's engine offers more torque, more power and better drivability. The Hector Plus has a far torquier engine, which absolutely embarrasses the XL6. It’ll offer far better drivability than the XL6 as it has almost 30% better torque-to-weight ratio. But the Maruti XL6 earns its badges back with better fuel efficiency.

If you’re considering the Hector Plus for the captain seats alone, then the XL6 does a decent job too and it’s certainly worth considering. The Hector Plus is an enticing option for you if you’re not happy with the feature list of the XL6 and want more. The Hector Plus doesn’t disappoint in that regard with features like voice commands, panoramic sunroof, power front seats, powered tailgate, ambient lighting, 7-inch full coloured instrument console and more. But know that it costs quite a bit more too - to buy and to run.
