With the diesel engine, the price gap between the Altroz and Amaze is not as stark as it is with the petrol engine. That’s because the Altroz diesel costs about Rs. 1.4 - 1.6 lakh more than comparable petrol variants while the Amaze diesel adds Rs. 1.3 lakh to the ex-showroom cost.

  • The Amaze is longer than the Altroz by 5mm.
  • The Altroz is wider than the Amaze by 60mm.
  • The Altroz is taller than the Amaze by 22mm.
  • The Altroz has a longer wheelbase than the Amaze; by 31mm.
  • The Amaze has 75 litres more boot space than the Altroz.
  • The Amaze has 5mm more ground clearance than the Altroz.
  • While the Tata Altroz is much wider and slightly taller than the Amaze, the Honda’s compact sedan boasts of much bigger boot space and slightly better ground clearance

Is the Tata Altroz better than the Honda Amaze?

Price of the base variant of Tata Altroz is Rs. 5.44 lakh and Honda Amaze is Rs. 6.10 lakh (both ex-showroom). The Altroz petrol has a much lower ex-showroom price than the Amaze. But, the price gap is smaller between the two cars if you’re comparing the diesel engines. The Altroz diesel is overpriced considering the additional premium you pay over the Altroz petrol is about Rs. 1.4 - 1.6 lakh.

In terms of dimensions, the Altroz and Amaze are even. The Amaze has a bigger boot and slightly better ground clearance while the Altroz is wider and slightly taller.

For petrol manual powertrain, Altroz engine offers more torque and lower in the rev range, but the Amaze has a better torque-to-weight ratio. The Altroz’ low RPM performance will be better than the Amaze. Both cars have similar fuel efficiency figures.
