    • BMW X1 starts at Rs. 35.90 lakh. X1 SportX is the most affordable car in the segment.
    • xLine is X1's most expensive variant with the petrol automatic powertrain. It is priced at Rs. 38.70 lakh and that makes it cheaper than the most expensive C-segment luxury SUV, Volvo XC40 T4 R-Design, by Rs. 1.2 lakh.

    • XC40 produces 300Nm of peak torque. It has the best torque figures in the segment.
    • BMW X1 has the best fuel-efficiency figure of 14.82kmpl.

    BMW X1’s petrol engine offers the best torque in this segment, so it is expected to offer better driveability compared to all other cars. If you're looking for a car with low running cost, then BMW X1 will be better since it is the most fuel-efficient car in this segment.

    BMW X1 is 4447mm long, 1821mm wide, 1598mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2670mm. A wider body normally results in better shoulder room and a higher roof makes ingress & egress easier. A longer wheelbase usually results in more cabin space. It has a boot space of 505 litres. A larger boot allows you to carry more luggage. X1 has a 175mm ground clearance, it rides on 225/50 R18 tyres size and has 61 litres fuel tank capacity.

    • Volvo XC40 is the widest car in the segment. It is 42mm wider than X1.
    • Volvo XC40 is the tallest car in the segment. It is 54mm taller than X1.
    • Volvo XC40 has the longest wheelbase in the segment. Its wheelbase is longer than the X1’s by 32mm.
    • BMW X1 has a boot space of 505-lt, it is the biggest boot space in the segment.
    • Volvo XC40's ground clearance of 211mm is the best in the segment.

    Amongst all the C-segment luxury SUVs, Volvo XC40 has the highest ground clearance, so it should be the last car to bottom-out on uneven roads. BMW X1 has the biggest boot in the segment, so it can carry maximum luggage.

    The BMW X1’s ground clearance of just 175mm, which would be acceptable on a hatchback but not enough for an SUV. We buy SUVs primarily for their road presence, easier ingress-egress and better ground clearance. The X1 should have at least 180mm of ground clearance to be considered acceptable for an SUV.
