Maruti Suzuki Celerio is 3695mm long, 1600mm wide, 1560mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2425mm. A wider body normally results in better shoulder room and a higher roof makes ingress & egress easier. A longer wheelbase usually results in more cabin space. It has a boot space of 235 litres. A larger boot allows you to carry more luggage. Celerio has a 165mm ground clearance, it rides on 165/70 R14 tyres size and has 35 litres fuel tank capacity.
- Renault Kwid has an overall length of 3731mm, which makes it the longest car in the segment. In fact, the Kwid is longer than the Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100, which are B1 segment cars. It is 36mm longer than Celerio.
- Hyundai Santro is the widest car in the segment. It is 45mm wider than Celerio.
- Maruti Suzuki Wagon R is the tallest car in the segment. It is 115mm taller than Celerio.
- Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has the longest wheelbase in the segment. Its wheelbase is longer than the Celerio’s by 10mm.
- Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has the biggest boot space in the segment. It has 106-lt more boot space than the Celerio.
- Datsun redi-GOs ground clearance of 187mm is the best in the segment. The Kwid isn’t too far behind at 184mm and it has the second-best ground clearance.
- While all cars get 14-inch wheels at least in their higher variants, Alto 800 remains the only car that has the smallest 12-inch wheels. Its tyre size is also the narrowest in this class of entry-level cars.
- The lower variants of the Celerio and Santro also get smaller, 13-inch wheels and narrower tyres than the Redi-Go’s base variant.
Amongst all the A-segment cars, Datsun redi-GO has the highest ground clearance, so it should be the last car to bottom-out on uneven roads. Maruti Suzuki Wagon R has the biggest boot in the segment, so it can carry maximum luggage. In terms of cabin space, the WagonR’s bulbous proportions give it almost an unfair advantage. It’s tall boy design also gives it a better road presence and an unnecessary amount of headroom.
