Maruti Suzuki Ignis 1.2 L, 4-cylinder petrol engine makes 83PS of maximum power and 113Nm of peak torque. It is available with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT type automatic transmission. The Maruti Suzuki Ignis petrol manual has a mileage of 20.89kmpl while the automatic claims to deliver a fuel efficiency figure of 20.89kmpl.

    • Hyundai Grand i10 Nios 1.0 produces 100PS of power. It is the most powerful engine in the segment, having 17PS more power than Ignis 1.2.
    • Hyundai Grand i10 Nios 1.0 produces 172Nm of peak torque. It has the best torque figures in the segment.
    • With a manual and automatic transmission, Maruti Suzuki Swift has the best fuel-efficiency figure of 21.21kmpl.
    • The Datsun Go is the only car in this segment to offer a smoother and more refined CVT-type automatic transmission. All other cars come with AMT type automatic.

For the most part, all cars’ performance in the B1 segment is evenly matched. The only ones that stand out are the Datsun Go and Hyundai Grand i10 Nios 1.0 turbo. The Grand i10 Nios turbo has the best power and torque in this segment, so it will offer better driveability and performance compared to other B1 segment cars. The Go is a little less powerful and its lower upfront cost compensates for the slightly weaker performance. However, the Go’s triple-digit torque should suffice for most buyers’ everyday driving needs. If you're looking for a car with lower running costs, then look no further than the Maruti Suzuki Swift. The Swift is the most fuel-efficient car in this segment followed by the Ignis, which is the second most fuel-efficient car.
