    Skoda India launched the 2020 Karoq at Rs 24.99 lakh ex-showroom, and it rivals the Volkswagen T-Roc, Hyundai Tucson and Jeep Compass in the premium compact SUV segment. The complete price list of the petrol powered premium compact SUVs is as follows.

    Skoda Karoq Petrol Automatic is launched in only a single variant at an introductory price of Rs. 24.99 lakh.

    • The 2020 Karoq is more expensive than the most affordable petrol-automatic car in this segment by Rs. 5.30 lakh.
    • Skoda Karoq is the most expensive SUV with this powertrain in this segment.

    The Skoda Karoq is available with a 1.5L turbo-petrol engine with a 7-speed DCT type automatic transmission. The power and torque output of this engine is 150PS and 250Nm, respectively.

    • Jeep Compass’ 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 162PS of power. It is the most powerful engine in the segment, with 12PS more power on offer than the Karoq.
    • Karoq’s 1.5-litre engine produces 250Nm of torque. It has the best torque figures in the segment.
    • With an automatic transmission, Skoda Karoq has the best fuel-efficiency figure of 14.49kmpl.

    Karoq's engine offers the best torque in this segment, so it is expected to offer better driveability compared to all other cars. If you're looking for a car with low running cost, then also Karoq will be better since it’s also the most fuel-efficient car in this segment.

    Skoda Karoq is 4382mm long, 1841mm wide and 1624mm tall. A wider body normally results in better shoulder room inside the car while a higher roof makes it easier to get in and out of the car. Skoda Karoq rides on a wheelbase measuring 2638mm. The wheelbase is the distance between the centre of the front and rear wheels. A longer wheelbase usually results in better legroom.

    • Hyundai Tucson is the longest car in the segment. Tucson is longer than the Karoq by 93mm.
    • Hyundai Tucson is the widest car in the segment. It is wider than the Karoq by 9mm.
    • Tucson is also the tallest car in the segment. It is taller than the Karoq by 36mm.
    • Hyundai Tucson has the longest wheelbase in the segment. Its wheelbase is longer than the Karoq’s by 32mm.
    • Skoda Karoq has the biggest boot in the segment.
    • Karoq has the best ground clearance in the segment.

    In terms of dimensions, Tucson offers the best space in the segment.

    With the launch of the Karoq, buyers who were previously wanting to buy the T-Roc, but could not because of no presence of a dealership or a service station nearby now have an option to get the same powertrain, but with the Skoda badge.
