The Nissan Kicks SUV was expected to get a new turbocharged petrol engine in order to make up for the discontinued diesel version due to the BS6 emission norms. Nissan has recently revealed that the 2020 Kicks will come with a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which the Nissan-Renault Group has co-developed with Mercedes-Benz. This powertrain turbo petrol will be able to generate a maximum power output of 156PS along with 254Nm of peak torque. This would make Nissan Kicks the most powerful petrol compact SUV model in the country. Meanwhile, all the important mechanical specs and variant-wise feature details have been splashed online via leaked brochure.
This turbocharged petrol engine will be paired with a new 8-speed CVT automatic transmission. The new 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine was introduced in India at the Auto Expo 2020 in the Renault Duster Turbo model. The Duster Turbo is also likely to launch here this year.
The 2020 Kicks compact SUV will also continue to be available in the existing 1.5-litre petrol engine (but BS6 compliant) that offers 106PS of power and 142Nm of torque. This engine will get paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. It is likely to cost more than the current BS4 model which is priced in the range of Rs. 9.55 lakh to Rs. 10.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new 2020 Nissan Kicks Turbo is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 11 lakh to Rs. 13 lakh. It will be rivalling the likes of the Kia Seltos, Renault Captur, Hyundai Creta and the lower variants of the MG Hector and Tata Harrier.
The BS6 Kicks SUV will be offered in total 4 variants, namely XL, XV, XV Premium, XV Premium (O). The variant-wise feature details that are leaked are as follows:
