by contentdeveloper on Friday, Oct 27 2017

The good old Fiat Linea has been in the market for quite some time, and it is time for it to bid adieu and make way for a new model in the global market. Italian auto major, Fiat is putting an end to the Linea moniker and replacing it with a new sedan model, which as per the latest reports will be christened as the Cronos. The all-new Fiat Cronos sedan is based on the new Fiat Argo hatchback model which was introduced to the global market earlier this year.

Soon after the launch of the Fiat Argo hatch, rumours started about a new sedan that Fiat is planning based on the new hatchback. Recently, there have been quite a few spy shots as well as rendered images of the Argo-based sedan, which is now known to be named as the Cronos. The new Fiat Cronos is basically the booted version of the aggressively styled Argo. However, it will have its individual styling elements as well in order to mark itself from its hatchback twin. The Cronos will be sharing the basic styling of the front fascia with the hatchback, but is likely to get an additional dose of chrome garnish to make it look different as well as a bit more premium.

When compared against the Fiat Linea, the Cronos will not only be more aggressively stylish and contemporary, but is likely to be more efficient and capable in all aspects. It is thought to be a far better option than that of the current Linea. It is also likely to come with larger dimensions. Thus, the Cronos is believed to be longer and wider than the Linea and thus, expected to offer a roomier cabin and better comfort for its occupants. The Cronos is also expected to be a much more practical car model than the Fiat Linea.

It seems that Fiat is heavily focusing on the potential car markets of South America. The Italian car maker has thus decided to manufacture the new Fiat Cronos at the company’s manufacturing facility in Argentina before it gets manufactured anywhere else in the world. Considering the South American markets, the new Cronos sedan is expected to come with a wide range of petrol engines including engines with flex fuel option.

As per the recent reports, Fiat is expected to have the world premiere of the brand new Cronos sedan before the current calendar year concludes. It is likely to hit the production line early next year.

When the Indian car market is considered, it is too early to comment on whether or not the Cronos will launch in our market. However, if and when Fiat decides to bring the Cronos to India, it should definitely enable the company to boost its sales in the Indian car market. As hatchback based sedan model are popular in the Indian market, the new Fiat Cronos should sell well in the lower sedan segment of the country.
