Japanese automaker Toyota is all set to launch the rebadged Baleno soon. The manufacturer has confirmed the launch date for Toyota Glanza on 6th June 2019 for the Indian market. The leaked images for the upcoming premium hatchback confirm that the 2019 Toyota Glanza will look a lot similar like the Suzuki Baleno at the exterior as well as at the interior.

Under the hood, the all-new Toyota Glanza will be available with a 1.2-liter K12B petrol engine producing 82 bhp of maximum power and 113 Nm of peak torque. This is the same unit that powers Maruti Baleno facelift. Toyota is likely to add a new 1.2-liter K12C Dualjet engine with Suzuki’s Smart Hybrid technology at a later stage. In terms of transmission, the upcoming hatchback will come mated to a conventional five-speed manual unit and an optional CVT.

In terms of design and features, Toyota had recently teased the front look of the Glanza. According to the teaser, the hatchback looks identical to Maruti Suzuki Baleno except for the new chrome finished grille added to the front fascia. Moving to the side, it has the same alloy wheels as seen in Baleno. Similarly, rear has been styled the same way as the Baleno except for the Toyota Glanza badge. As reported earlier, Toyota Glanza will be available in two variants- G and V. The G trim is likely to be an entry-level variant and will be based on the Baleno Zeta. On the other hand, the top-spec V grade will be based on Baleno’s range-topping Alpha trim.

Talking about the interior, the Toyota rebadged Maruti Suzuki Baleno will offer the same design for the dashboard and steering wheel featuring an additional Toyota badge. The color scheme for the interior will remain the same for the Glanza including the same set of features such as the SmartPlay Studio infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen which is offered with Baleno. However, Toyota is expected to make tweaks to the infotainment system’s interface or offer an additional feature with Glanza. The highlighting features include the touchscreen infotainment framework with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, twin airbags and ABS crosswise over trims, automatic atmosphere control, backstopping sensors and camera, programmed headlamps, downpour detecting wipers and others.

Other than these, the upcoming hatchback by Toyota is expected to get three- year / 100,000 km warranty as standard in line with other Toyota cars. However, we can also expect it to additionally come with extended warranty plans including the five- year True warranty package that can be availed within the standard manufacturer warranty. On the other hand, the seven-year Toyota Timeless Warranty package can be bought by the customers only after the standard warranty is over.

The Toyota Glanza will be positioned above the Toyota Liva in terms of pricing. The Toyota Glanza price in India is likely to be slightly higher than the Suzuki Baleno. When launched, the premium hatchback will take on the likes of upcoming Tata Altroz, Honda Jazz and Hyundai i20 in the segment.
