Tata Motors have showcased a special edition of the Nexon at its showroom in Coimbatore. The showcased special edition Nexon is inspired by the Apple iphone’s Rose Gold color and has been named as the ‘Rose Gold Edition’. The customized version gets multiple enhancements inside and out over the standard model. The interesting thing here is that the customization has been done at dealership level and the same modification can be carried out on any Nexon variant costing the customers additional Rs 2 lakh approximately.
Not to mention that the Rose Gold edition of Tata Nexon has been colored in Rose Gold, the compact SUV gets a number of additional features. The list includes a sporty blacked-out honeycomb grille, air dam and fog lamp housing at the front end as well as dark shade extending to the signature front badge and the fog lamps. Other features include black paint finish on the multi-spoke alloy wheels, roof rails and ORVM housings along with the roof and beltline are painted in a darker Rose Gold shade.
At the inside, the showcased special edition Tata Nexon gets dual tone theme with a gloss black trim and premium seat upholstery which adds to the overall appeal of the Rose Gold edition model. However, other than this all the other features have been carried out from the standard Nexon model. The features include a Harman-sourced 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and an 8-speaker sound system (4 speakers + 4 tweeters), projector headlamps with daytime running lights and automatic climate control with rear AC vents. It comes standard with dual front airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts and ABS with EBD and CSC (corner stability control). Other then these, the Nexon offers a ground clearance of 209mm and has a boot space of 350 litres.
Apart from the interior features, the powertrain options for the special edition Nexon remain the same as the standard model. The compact SUV continues to come powered by 1.2-litre turbo petrol unit delivering110 bhp with 170 Nm of torque and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel oil burner producing 110 bhp with 260 Nm of torque. The compact SUV can be brought either with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed AMT (automated manual transmission) unit with the multiple driving modes on offer – Eco, City, Sport. The Tata Nexon delivers a claimed mileage of 17kmpl for the petrol and 21.5kmpl for the diesel version in its manual as well as automatic avatars.
Available in five trims – XE, XM, XT, XZ, and XZ+, recently Tata Nexon has received a respectable 4-star crash test rating for adult protection and a 3-star rating for child protection under Global NCAP’s #SaferCarsForIndia campaign. The higher trims XZ and XZ+ are exclusively available with dual tone roof options – Ivory White and Sonic Silver. The single tone shades include Etna Orange, Moroccan Blue, Vermont Red, Seattle Silver, Calgary White and Glasgow Grey.
Currently, the prices for the Nexon compact SUV start at Rs 6.16 lakh and go up to Rs 10.59 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The Tata Nexon rivals the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Honda WR-V, Mahindra TUV300, Ford Freestyle and NuvoSport in the segment.
