2020 Tata Tiago Facelift Petrol XE vs XT Variant
The Tata Tiago XT variant costs Rs. 5.33 lakh, which is Rs. 64,000 more than the XE. For this additional price, it gets the following additional features over the Tiago XE:
- Rear Parking Sensors w/ Display
- Music System
- All Power Windows
- Wheel Covers
- Central Locking
- AM/FM & USB Connect
- Electrically Adjustable ORVM
- Body Coloured Outside Door Handles & ORVM
- Bluetooth Connectivity
- Rear Parcel Shelf
- LED Turn Indicator on ORVM
- Speed Dependent Volume Control
- Follow Me Home Lamps
- Theater Dimming cabin lamp
- 4 speakers
The XT variant doesn’t add enough features to justify the price jump but it gets some enough must-have features to improve the ownership experience. This is not a value for money upgrade over the XE variant but we’d recommend this variant over the XE. You’ll still have to get a day/night inside mirror, which costs about Rs. 1,000 but is a worthwhile investment for convenient night driving.

2020 Tata Tiago Facelift Petrol XT vs XZ Variant
The Tata Tiago XZ petrol variant costs Rs. 5.83 lakh with the manual transmission, which is Rs. 50,000 more than the XT variant. For another Rs. 50,000, you can pick the XZA AMT automatic transmission, which costs Rs. 6.33 lakh (ex-showroom). For the Rs. 50,000 higher incremental cost over the XT variant, it gets the following notable additional features:
- Front Fog Lamps
- 7-Inch Touchscreen by Harman w/ 4 Extra Tweeters
- Height Adjustable Driver Seat
- Dual Tone Wheel Covers
- Day/Night IRVM
- Apple CarPlay & Android Auto
- Cooled Glovebox
- Rear Defogger
- Steering Mounted Audio Controls
- Auto Fold ORVM
- Body Coloured Side AC Vents for Blue, Red and Yellow Colours
- Rear Wiper & Washer
- One Touch-Down Driver Window
- Vanity Mirror for Co-Driver
The XZ variant is a better value for money option than the XT and therefore, we’d recommend this variant over the Tiago XT. If you can stretch your budget this far, then you should consider the XZ variant. If you want better value, then the XZ Plus variant is a better option.

2020 Tata Tiago Facelift Petrol XZ vs XZ Plus Variant
The Tiago XZ Plus variant costs Rs. 6.12 lakh with the manual transmission and Rs. 6.62 lakh with the automatic. These prices for the XZ Plus and XZA Plus are Rs. 29,000 more than the XZ and XZA, respectively. For this additional cost, you get only the following handful of features:
- Rear camera
- Auto AC
- 15-inch Alloy Wheels
- Piano Black ORVM
- Contrast black Roof Option
While the list of additional features for the top variant is small, the price is too good to ignore. 15-inch alloy wheels alone could cost this much but the XZ Plus further gives rear camera and automatic AC as well. This is the most value for money option and our top pick. If you are not a fan of these features even with VFM pricing, then you should go with the XZ variant. But for the majority of the buyers the XZ Plus will make sense from value for money as well as usability standpoint.

Which Variant Of The 2020 Tata Tiago Facelift Petrol Should You Buy?
The Tiago’s base variant is a good value for money among all four options but it’s too barebones for most buyers. The price jump to the XT is steep and it’s also not a great value for money variant. However, it gets most of the must-have features and is worth buying over the XE.
If you’re looking for better value and can afford to buy the XZ variant, then this is worth buying. But, just another Rs. 29,000 can get you the top-spec XZ Plus variant, which is an even better value for money option. The Tiago XZ Plus is our top-recommended variant for both, manual and automatic buyers.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The 2020 Tata Tiago Facelift Petrol?
The Tata Tiago gets a 1.2-litre normal petrol engine, which makes 86PS of power and 113Nm of torque. For a normal petrol engine, it’s the most powerful option in the segment. It also makes its torque a fair bit lower than others with a normal petrol engine. But, its torque-to-weight ratio is the lowest in the segment and on par with only the Datsun Go. Comparing the Datsun Go automatic’s torque-to-weight ratio with the Tiago AMT’s is not fair in our opinion as the Go gets CVT automatic, which is a lot smoother and is suppose to be a lot more expensive.
Fun fact: The Datsun Go is the only other car in the B1 hatchback segment with a 3-cylinder normal petrol engine. The rest come with either a turbo or 4 cylinders.
To sum it up, you should expect satisfactory performance from the Tiago and not explosive like the Nios turbo.

What Are The Dimensions Of The 2020 Tata Tiago Facelift?
In terms of dimensions, the Tiago manages to deliver a satisfactory length, boot space and ground clearance but nothing extraordinary. The Ignis and Datsun Go offer the best-in-class SUV-like 180mm ground clearance while the Tiago’s is certainly better than the others at 170mm. The Ignis also stands out for offering 15-inch wheels with 175-section tyres as standard even on the base variant.
