    5 Facts about the India-bound Renault Captur

    French car maker Renault will be launching the Captur SUV in the car market of India next month. The Captur SUV will be a premium offering from Renault in India and will be placed above the Renault Duster compact SUV. Post its Indian launch, the Captur will rival Hyundai Creta, Mahindra XUV500 and the likes. Authorized Renault dealerships across India have started registering pre-launch bookings for the Captur for an advance payment of Rs. 25,000.

    Here are the five facts to know about the soon to launch Renault Captur SUV:

    Design

    The Renault Captur flaunts a highly contemporary and aggressive styling. It will have eye-catching styling and much more premium appeal than that of the Duster. It will also get dual-tone exterior colour options with attractive contrasting roof schemes. The cabin is thought to be offering options of a two-tone color scheme and an all-black theme. The SUV will be offering a good ground clearance of 204 mm, which should enable the SUV to handle the infamous road conditions effectively, while also offering decent off-road handling capabilities.

    Features

    The Renault Captur will be pretty feature loaded to do justice to its premium positioning in the Indian car market. Although the feature details are not yet known, it is expected to offer a 7.0 inch touchscreen infotainment system along with navigation and Bluetooth connectivity among many other features. The Captur is a 5-seater SUV and will be measuring 18 mm longer than the Duster and thus, will offer better space and comfort to all its occupants. The vehicle’s rear bench seat will come with flexibility to be folded in 60/40 ratio. The SUV will offer a boot space of 387 litres, while with its rear seats folded down it will be expanded to up to a massive 1,200 litres.

    Engine & Transmission

    The Renault Captur SUV will be offered in the Indian car market in both petrol and diesel versions. The diesel version will be powered by the same 1.5 litre dCI diesel engine that powers the Duster. It delivers a max power output of 110 PS along with a top torque of 240 Nm. The engine gets mated to a 6 speed manual transmission. The petrol avatar of the Captur SUV will pack in a new 1.5 litre petrol mill that can generate 106 PS of power and 142 Nm of torque. The petrol mill will come paired to a 5 speed manual transmission.

    Market Competition

    The Renault Captur SUV’s success rate in India will depend on how the French car maker manages to price it. Apart from the Creta and XUV500, the Captur is also expected to compete with the base variants of the Jeep Compass. On the other hand, the lower trims of the Renault Captur will also fight it out with the refreshed Maruti Suzuki S-Cross.

    India Launch & Deliveries

    The Renault Captur’s India launch got delayed from October to November, 2017. It is expected that the Captur will launch in India in mid-November.

    While bookings of the Captur SUV are ongoing, deliveries are expected to commence only in December, 2017.
