Honda Cars India has recently launched a new special edition model for its popular WR-V crossover. Named as the Honda WR-V Edge Edition, the new special edition model has been tagged at Rs. 8.01 lakhs for the petrol version, while the diesel avatar comes for Rs 9.01 lakhs (prices ex-showroom, New Delhi). This new special edition is based on the S model trim of the WR-V crossover. With the introduction of the Edge Edition, Honda India has expanded the model lineup of the WR-V crossover to offer more buying choices to the customers.
Like all special edition models, the new Honda WR-V Edge Edition also offers something more to add a touch of special appeal. Here’s a look at the new WR-V Edge Edition and what all special things it has to offer to the buyers.
When exterior design is concerned, there are not any major changes, not even added decals and body graphics which are common in special edition models. The only visual change comes in the form of a set of newly styled five-spoke 16 inch alloy wheels. Apart from this Honda Cars India is also offering a premium white paint option on the special edition model, but in order to get it, the buyers have to shell out an additional Rs 4,000.
On the inside, the new Honda WR-V Edge Edition model offers the features of rear parking sensors and a rear-view camera display that is integrated into the inside rear-view mirror. The Japanese car major has also endowed the WR-V Edge Edition with its Connect app as a standard feature. Thus, the WR-V Edge Edition offers added benefit and convenience over its standard avatar.
When the under the hood mechanical bits are concerned, the new Honda WR-V Edge Edition does not get any changes and the existing powertrains have been retained. The WR-V Edge Edition gets powered by the same 1.2 litre petrol mill which has the ability to produce a max power of 90 hp, while the diesel version packs in a 1.5 litre diesel motor that is good to deliver a peak power of 100 hp. Both the petrol and diesel engines are paired with a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox.
The new Honda WR-V Edge Edition special edition model comes for a premium of over Rs. 20,000 as compared against the standard S model trim of the crossover model. However, the good part is that it offers more equipments and a more premium feel than the S variant, and is still about Rs 1 lakh cheaper than that of the top of the range VX model trim.
The Japanese auto major is planning to launch two more models in India within this year. These are namely the next generation CR-V SUV that will come with two first time offering – a diesel option and 7-seat configuration; and the new generation Amaze compact sedan, both of which were showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo and both will be major launches this year.
