    Everything you need to know about the refreshed new 2017 Ford EcoSport

    The much awaited new updated 2017 Ford EcoSport has finally launched in the Indian car market after four years of starting the sub-4 meter compact SUV segment. The 2017 Ford EcoSport boasts of a comprehensive facelift to fight it out in the cutthroat Indian subcompact SUV segment with rivals such as the massively successful Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the new Tata Nexon and Mahindra TUV300.

The 2017 Ford EcoSport boasts of a comprehensive facelift to fight it out in the cutthroat Indian subcompact SUV segment with rivals such as the massively successful Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, the new Tata Nexon and Mahindra TUV300.

    The 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift comes with a price range of Rs. 7.31 lakhs to Rs. 10.99 lakhs. According to the American auto major, the new updated Ford EcoSport comes with as many as 1600 changes.

     

    Ford India took a very different route for the introduction of the refreshed EcoSport in the domestic car market of India. The company unveiled the new EcoSport facelift online and even offered the first batch of the vehicle to be booked exclusively online. As part of a promotional offer, the refreshed EcoSport’s first 123 units were made available to be pre-booked exclusively on Amazon India. Just within few hours of being available on Amazon.in, all the units got booked. The new model is now available for sale at all Ford outlets across India.

    Here are all the details that you need to know about the new 2017 Ford EcoSport facelift:

    Engine & Transmission

    The biggest update in the Ford EcoSport facelift is the introduction of the all-new Dragon petrol engine. So, now the EcoSport offers two engine options the new 1.5L 3-cylinder Ti-VCT petrol engine from Ford’s Dragon engine series and the same 1.5L TDCi diesel motor from the older model. Ford has dropped the superb 1L Ecoboost petrol engine under the hood of the refreshed EcoSport in India.

    Both the engines get mated to a 5 speed manual transmission gearbox as standard, while the new petrol mill also get a new 6 speed torque convertor automatic transmission option.

     

    Performance

    The new 1.5L petrol mill offers better power figures of 123 PS and 150 Nm of peak torque. The new engine is also lighter and should be offering better fuel economy. The 1.5L continues to offer 100 PS of power along with 205 Nm of peak torque.

    Styling

    The EcoSport flaunts a brand new face with new bolder grille design, larger headlights, LED DRLs, new bumper and new larger fog lamps. It comes with new alloy wheels and retains the much loved tailgate mounted spare wheel for our market.

     

    Dimensions

    The EcoSport facelift is 3,998 mm long, 1,765 mm wide and 1,647 mm tall. The vehicle comes riding on a wheelbase measuring 2,519 mm. The mini SUV also offers a decent boot space of 346 litres that can be increased to 705 litres by folding down the rear seats.

    Features

    The updated EcoSport has also become more premium in terms of features. The SUV offers a new touch screen infotainment system with Ford’s new SYNC3 inteface, navigation, Android Auto and AppleCar support, a new entertainment system for the rear seat passengers and more.

     

    Safety

    The new EcoSport offers 6 airbags in the range topping version. The vehicle offers dual front airbags as well as ABS as standard equipments across the lineup. The model comes braced with Emergency Assistance feature, while the petrol version of the SUV also offer equipments such as the Paddle Shift and Hill Launch Assist, both of which are segment firsts.
