Italian auto major Fiat might be a global auto giant with iconic status, but in India its presence and popularity is negligible. However, this doesn’t mean that Fiat doesn’t offer capable models in the Indian car market. One such underrated capable car is the Fiat Urban Cross. Let us take a look at the Urban Cross and what makes it a good buying option for the urban Indian buyers as its name suggests:

Fiat Urban Cross is another version of the aggressive looking Fiat Avventura. While the Avventura is a more bulked up version Figo aimed at offering a better rough-road experience, the Urban Cross is aimed at offering a better drive experience within the city limits. The Fiat Urban Cross thus, targets the urban users who need a dependable car for their daily commutation. And one should not forget that the infamous Indian roads are not smooth even within the cities. So, the Urban Cross is equipped to handle the tough driving situations and road conditions of the busy city roads.

The Fiat Urban Cross is powered by the highly acclaimed and popular Fiat 1.3 liter Multijet diesel motor that powers many other popular diesel cars (especially most of Maruti Suzuki diesel models) in India. The Urban Cross offers a max power of 90 bhp along with 209 Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired to the standard 5 speed manual transmission gearbox sending the generated power to the car’s front wheels.

The Fiat Urban Cross is a very practical car which offers good number of features as well in the top of the range Emotion model. The car’s features list includes airbags, climate control, steering-mounted audio controls, split-folding rear seats and rear washer, wiper and defogger among much more. The other higher variants also include a good long list of features as well, which include a full trip computer, a touchscreen integrated sat-nav system, Bluetooth audio streaming and telephony capability and others. Moreover, the Urban Cross offers the almost identical exterior design language for all the variants, excepting the base model which just lacks the fog lamps as the only exterior styling difference.

Although the Fiat Urban Cross is meant for offering great convenient drives in the urban areas, the car’s capabilities are definitely not limited within the city limits. The car can offer good rides on fairly long trips crossing the city limits, highways and village roads. True it is not equipped for rough roads, but if it can handle the not so good roads in our cities, it can also handle some rough roads outside the boundaries of the city. Moreover, this car offers great handling as well as ride to offer superb drive experience in the urban areas, which also gives you the confidence to take the car out on weekend drives as well.

To put it in a nutshell, the Fiat Urban Cross is a good and practical option for the modern Indian buyers, who are looking for a car that looks good, comes with good features and offers great ride quality along with dependable performance.
