    The Kia Sonet will share the following powertrains with the Hyundai Venue -- normal petrol engine with manual transmission, turbo-petrol engine with ACMT (auto-clutch manual transmission) and DCT, and diesel engine with manual transmission. Additionally it will also get a more powerful iteration of the same diesel engine with an automatic transmission.

    The 1.2L Petrol engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The power and torque output of this engine is 83PS and 115Nm. The 1.0L Turbo Petrol engine is paired with either a 6-speed ACMT or a 7- Speed DCT with the power and torque output at 120PS and 172Nm, respectively.

    The 1.5L Diesel engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission. The power and torque output of this engine is 100PS and 240Nm. It is also available with a 6-speed torque converter, with 115PS of maximum power and 250Nm peak torque.

    Is Kia Sonet underpowered?

    The 1.2L Petrol produces 83PS of maximum power and 114Nm of peak torque. This engine may feel slightly underpowered especially on the highways but it should be adequate for city driving. The 1.5L Diesel engine, in both its tunes, should be adequate for all driving conditions. Sonet 1.0L Turbo Petrol produces 120PS of maximum power and 172Nm of peak torque. It should be adequate for Indian conditions.
