New City VX vs Verna SX (O) Petrol Manual - Engine Specs Comparison

The new Honda City makes 6PS more power and revs higher than the Verna too. The updated City also makes 1Nm more torque than Verna petrol. Moreover, it peaks 200rpm lower than Verna’s petrol engine, which should help with drivability as well. However, the two sedans have a similar torque-to-weight ratio. So, Verna petrol MT will also have similar performance while driving in the city.

Both the cars are evenly matched in terms of everyday drivability because of similar torque, torque-to-weight, transmission and mileage.

New City VX vs Verna SX (O) Petrol MT - Which Sedan Should You Buy?

The new Honda City’s 1.5-litre petrol engine is now much improved. It retains the smooth driving characteristics and adds low-RPM drivability to the mix. The City’s smooth, free-revving and reliable engine made the City a favourite in our country and that brand name helps the car maintain high residual value in the used car market. The new car’s bigger dimensions also somewhat justify Honda’s intentions of positioning the City a cut above the rest in its segment. The Verna doesn’t have that brand cache to bank on but it’s a good car nonetheless. It makes it up to you with a lot more features and a wider service network.

If you want more features, the choice is simple, the Verna SX (O) is for you. But, if you want an objectively better value for money, then the City VX petrol MT narrowly beats the Verna SX (O) because of its much lower depreciation. The lower upfront cost of the City VX also helps it make a case. Since the Verna isn’t too expensive overall, you could go with that option too and you won’t be losing much more over the course of a 5-year and 50,000km ownership period.
