Japanese auto major, Honda had introduced the new generation Honda CR-V SUV in India at the 2018 Auto Expo in February, while confirming the new model’s launch in the car market of India. As per the latest reports, the all new Honda CR-V SUV will be launched in India in the month of October this year.
The new-gen Honda CR-V premium compact crossover is larger as compared against its predecessor. This time around, the all new CR-V will be coming with an added third row, meaning offering a 7-seat configuration. However, the more interesting thing is that the new model will be offered with a diesel engine option for the very first time in the Indian car market.
The all new Honda CR-V SUV’s diesel version will be coming to India powered by a 1.6 litre turbocharged motor from the Japanese company’s Earth Dreams diesel engine family. Theoil burner has the capability to deliver a max power output of 118 bhp along with a peak torque of 300 Nm. The diesel engine will be coupled to a 9 speed automatic transmission gearbox along with standard paddle shifters. The new CR-V diesel will also be equipped with an all 4 wheel drive system.
On the other hand, the petrol avatar of the new-gen Honda CR-V premium compact SUV will pack in a 2 litre petrol engine which is good generate a peak power of 152 bhp along with 189 Nm of top torque. The petrol mill will be paired to a CVT gearbox. Sadly, the Honda CR-V petrol will be offered only with front-wheel drive system and will also lack the paddle shifters.
The Japanese auto maker has not yet revealed the specifications or the feature details of the all new CR-V. But we can expect the new CR-V to come equipped with a host of premium features including power adjustable driver's seat, dual-zone climate control and a 7 inch touchscreen infotainment system along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.
The new generation Honda CR-V SUV will be getting assembled in India and thus, it should be rather competitively priced, but its expected price range would be around Rs. 28 lakh given its premium positioning. Honda Cars India has planned quite a few new model launches for the country’s domestic car market. After launching the new generation Honda CR-V SUV in India, Honda is going to prepare the launch of the new Civic premium sedan which also had its Indian debut at the 2018 Auto Expo. The 10th generation Honda Civic model will be getting powered by the same powertrain as that of the new CR-V.
Thus, the Honda CR-V fans in India will finally be able to get hold of the new generation CR-V during this year’s festive season, which is an ideal time for the launch of new cars in India. The primary draw points of the new-gen CR-V SUV will be its first time diesel version and the third-row of seats. The all new Honda CR-V is also expected to be equipped with an array of new convenience and safety features to add to the overall appeal of this premium crossover.
