American auto major, Ford has recently launched the new updated 2019 Ford Endeavour with some new to enable the popular premium SUV to fight better with growing competition in India. The new refreshed Ford Endeavour does not get any mechanical updates, except for the introduction of the manual transmission option in Titanium trim.
The updated 2019 Ford Endeavour SUV comes with a handful of added features like one-touch engine start-stop button, multiple off-road modes and innovative leg gesture boot opening system to make it more enticing for the buyers.
While the Endeavour has been a very popular model in India, the country’s full-sized premium SUV segment has become more competitive recently with the launch of the all-new Mahindra Alturas G4 (which is essentially the new-gen Rexton). Moreover, the updated Endeavour still has to fight the segment ruler Toyota Fortuner and the Isuzu MU-X.
Here, we are taking a quick look at how the 2019 Ford Endeavour facelift is placed opposite its worthy, key market competitors in India, namely - the Toyota Fortuner, the Isuzu MU-X and the new Mahindra Alturas G4.
The Ford Endeavour facelift measures 4903 mm long, 1860 mm wide and 1837 tall, making it the longest in the lot. The Mahindra Alturas G4 measures 4850 mm long, 1960 mm wide and 1845 high, which makes it the tallest and widest among its primary competitors. The Toyota Fortuner is 4895 mm in length, 1855 in width and 1835 high, while the Isuzu MU-X’s dimensions stand at 4825 mm, 1860 and 1840.
In terms of wheelbase measurement, the Endeavour gets a 2850 mm wheelbase, the Alturas’ is 2865 mm, Fortuner’s is 2745 mm and the MU-X’s stand at 2845 mm. Meaning, Alturas again gets the first position followed by the Endeavour.
The Endeavour facelift gets a 160 PS / 385 Nm 2.2L and a 200 PS / 470 Nm 3.2L engine choice. The Fortuner packs in a 175 PS / 450 Nm 2.8L engine. The Alturas G4 gets a 182 PS / 420 Nm 2.2L motor, while the MU-X offers a 175 PS/ 380 Nm 3.0L engine.
The 3.2L Endeavour offers top figures, while the Alturas G4 and Fortuner get the second position. All these four SUV models come in both 4×2 and AWD options.
Features & Safety
All four models offer similar features, among which the common ones aretouchscreen integrated infotainment system, automatic climate control, cruise control, steering mounted controls, power adjustable driver’s seat and power wing mirrors.
In terms of safety, the updated Endeavour gets minimum 6 and 7 max airbags depending on variants. The Fortuner offers 7 airbags, while the MU-X offers 6 airbags. The Alturas G4 offers first in segment 9 airbags.
All 4 SUVs offer ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, hill start assist, hill descent control, traction control and more.
The 2019 Ford Endeavour facelift has a price range of Rs. 28.19 to 32.97 lakhs. The Toyota Fortuner ranges between Rs. 27.23 and 33.29 lakhs. The Isuzu MU-X costs between Rs. 27.35 and 29.32 lakhs, while the Mahindra Alturas G4 ranges between Rs. 26.65 and 29.95 lakhs.
Thus, the Endeavour has the higheststarting price, the Fortuner has the highest top-end price, while the Alturas G4 has the lowest starting price and the MU-X has the lowest top price.
