Renault Triber is a 7-seater MPV based on the Renault Kwid. The vehicle has recently been unveiled in New Delhi and is expected to be launched in the second half of 2019. It will be placed between the Kwid and the Duster in Renault’s Indian lineup. It will get detachable third-row seats which can be taken out to optimize the cargo space, makes it different from the rivals in the segment like Maruti Suzuki Ertiga.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is currently ruling the MPV segment in the Indian market. Available in four variants L, V, Z and Z+, the Maruti Suzuki has sold over four Lakh units of the Ertiga in the last six years of its launch. The MPV received its last update in 2018 and is now in its second generation in India. The existing Maruti Suzuki Ertiga gets an all-new design language and is based on the all-new Heartect platform.
Let’s compare the upcoming Renault Triber and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga in terms of dimension, powertrain, and pricing.

The current-gen Ertiga is powered by a brand new 1.5-liter petrol engine that produces 103 bhp of max power and 138 Nm of peak torque. The diesel version has also been upgraded to the new 1.5-liter engine that produces 93 bhp of power and 225 Nm of torque. While the petrol engine is mated to a 5-speed manual, the diesel engine is paired with a 6-speed manual. The petrol engine is available with a 4-speed automatic transmission as well.
