What Is The Price Of 2020 Maruti Suzuki Swift?

The Maruti Suzuki Swift is available in 4 variants with a manual transmission and 3 of those are available with an AMT automatic transmission. The prices of the Swift BS6 range from Rs. 5.19 lakh for the LXI MT to Rs. 8.02 lakh for the ZXI Plus AT.

Prices for the AMT automatic transmission are Rs. 47,000 higher in case of the VXI and ZXI variants but the ZXI Plus AT is Rs. 44,000 more expensive than the ZXI Plus MT. Now let’s examine each trim up close starting with the LXI variant.

Is The LXI Variant Of 2020 Maruti Suzuki Swift Petrol Worth Buying?

The LXI variant costs Rs. 5.19 lakh. Besides the usual safety kit like ABS, airbags and parking sensors, it gets the following notable features:

  • Tilt steering
  • Internally-adjustable outside mirrors
  • AC with heater
  • Power steering
  • Antenna for music system

Let’s consider this as the baseline to see if the higher variants offer good value for the incremental increase in their prices. We’d only recommend the LXI variant to budget buyers who are interested in the Swift and can’t or don’t want to stretch further. The lack of basic convenience features like day/night inside mirror, power windows and music system makes it difficult to recommend. If you are comfortable with getting these features from the aftermarket, then you can consider the Swift LXI.

Is The VXI Variant Of 2020 Maruti Suzuki Swift Petrol Worth Buying?

The Swift’s VXI MT variant costs Rs. 6.19 lakh, which is Rs. 1.0 lakh more than the LXI MT. The automatic transmission is available for another Rs. 47,000 and it costs Rs. 6.66 lakh.

The notable additional features of the VXI over the LXI are:

  • Day/night inside mirror
  • Music system
  • Steering-mounted controls
  • All power windows
  • Remote central locking
  • Security alarm
  • Wheel covers
  • Power outside mirrors
  • Tachometer
  • Height-adjustable driver seat

Outside temperature display, gear shift indicator and dead pedal are 3 features that are available with the VXI AMT.

While the VXI feels like a more complete package for budget buyers, the price jump of Rs. 1.0 lakh is not justifiable. This is not a value for money variant and we can’t recommend it. Instead, we’d suggest you consider the LXI variant and accessorize it with some of the VXI’s features. This will turn out to be far cheaper and you can pick exactly those features that you value the most.

If you want the Swift with the automatic transmission, then this is your most affordable option. Although the AMT model somewhat makes up for the unjustified price jump, it’s not the best choice for value hunters. Now let’s see how the ZXI variant of the Swift BS6 holds up against our value meter.

Is The ZXI Variant Of 2020 Maruti Suzuki Swift Petrol Worth Buying?

The ZXI variant of the Swift costs Rs. 6.78 lakh with manual transmission and Rs. 7.25 lakh for the automatic. That’s a price jump of Rs. 59,000 over the VXI MT and VXI AT variants. For this sum, the noteworthy feature additions are:

  • Fog lamps
  • Rear defogger
  • Automatic AC
  • Keyless entry with push-button start stop
  • 15-inch alloys with wider tyres
  • Power folding mirrors
  • Split rear seatback
  • Boot lamp

If you want the Swift with some creature comforts, then the ZXI variant is the best value offering. This is our top recommended variant and the one you should buy if you’re looking for a good balance of value and features.

Is The ZXI Plus Variant Of 2020 Maruti Suzuki Swift Petrol Worth Buying?

The ZXI Plus variant of the Swift BS6 petrol costs Rs. 7.58 lakh with manual transmission and Rs. 8.02 lakh with the automatic transmission. The price jump from the ZXI variant to the ZXI Plus is Rs. 80,000 for the MT and Rs. 77,000 for the AT. Notable additions to the ZXI Plus variant are:

  • LED projector headlamps
  • LED DRLs
  • 7-inch touchscreen infotainment with Android Auto and Apple Carplay
  • Auto headlamps
  • 15-inch machined alloy wheels
  • Reversing camera

As it’s evident from the feature list, the ZXI Plus is only adding good-to-have features that too for a higher price than what’s justifiable. We can’t recommend the ZXI Plus variant as it’s not a good value for money. However, it does stand out on the road with unique styling bits like LED lighting, machined alloy wheels. So, if you want your Swift to look nicer than others’ and are willing to pay a higher cost, only then you should go for it.

Which Variant Of The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Swift Petrol Offers The Most Value For Money?

The Swift’s base variant is an affordable entry point for Swift fans but its too basic. Unfortunately, the VXI variant seems overpriced, so we have to recommend the LXI variant instead even if you can afford the VXI. If you’re interested in the automatic transmission, then the VXI is your most affordable option.

However, if you can stretch your budget, then you should get the ZXI variant instead. It’s the most value for money variant in the Swift’s lineup and the one you should buy. With or without the automatic transmission, the ZXI variant remains our top pick.

The ZXI Plus variant has more flash and less functional features. Not just that, it’s also overpriced like the VXI variant. So, we don’t recommend buying the ZXI variant unless you’re getting some healthy discounts on that.

What Are The Engine Specifications Of The 2020 Maruti Suzuki Swift Petrol?

The Maruti Suzuki Swift BS6 makes 83PS of power and 113Nm of torque from its 1.2-litre normal petrol engine. It’s available with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT automatic transmission. Power from its 4-cylinder engine is on par with its rivals but it’s nowhere near as powerful as the Nios turbo. The turbo petrol engine is available with the Grand i10 Nios as an option and it makes a staggering 100PS of power and 172Nm of torque from as low as 1500rpm. This particular engine should offer far better drivability and performance compared to the Swift petrol.

The Swift, however, leads in the fuel efficiency department with a figure of 21.21kmpl regardless of which transmission you choose. In this B1 segment, Datsun Go is the only car offering a refined and superior CVT-type automatic transmission. All the others come with an AMT-type automatic.
