    6 Upcoming hatchback launches in India

    Year 2018 is half way through, and the Indian car market has already witnessed the launch of innumerable cars from several auto makers. Nevertheless, many more new launches are waiting to take place this year.

    We are considering the still most popular segment in India for the common car buyers – the hatchback segment. Here are the 6 upcoming hatchback models that are expected to launch in India in the remaining 6 months of the current calendar year. Check them out:

      1.  All new Maruti Suzuki WagonR

    One of the oldest and most popular hatchbacks in India, the Maruti Suzuki WagonR is getting ready to come in its all new avatar. The next-gen WagonR will be based on a new lightweight platform. It will flaunt an all-new contemporary design, but is not expected to ditch its much loved tall-boy styling. It will come with improved interior and new added features. The next-gen WagonR will get powered by the Alto K10’s updated engine to comply with the new BSVI norms. The all new WagonR is expected to launch in the upcoming festive season.

      2.  Hyundai Santro

    The highly popular Santro is being resurrected by Hyundai. This new generation tallboy hatchback will be based on the current generation i10 platform. It is said that the all new Santro will be larger than the previous i10. The car will be powered by the updated 1.1L engine which used to power the earlier i10 and Santro. The all new Santro will be the first Hyundai car in India to come with an AMT option and is likely to launch in August 2018.

      3.  Tata Tiago JTP

    Tata Motors has partnered with the Coimbatore-based Jayem Automotives to work on the hot version of the Tiago. Named as the Tiago JTP, this new hot hatchback will get powered by the Nexon’s 1.2L turbocharged petrol mill and is expected to offer 110 PS and 150 Nm. The hot hatch will also get a performance-tuned suspension as well as transmission, and is likely to launch towards the end of 2018.

      4.  Tata Tiago EV

    The Tata Tiago is also going to come in its electric version in a few months time. Design-wise it will be just like the regular variants and only its special badges will mark it apart. The Tiago EV with get powered by a 3-phase AC motor that will generate around 40 Bhp.

      5.  Ford Figo Facelift

    The Figo facelift is expected to launch in India during this year’s festive season. The updated Figo will come with styling updates and some new added features. The car will get the new SYNC3 touchscreen infotainment system and the new 97 PS 1.2L Dragon petrol mill which was introduced on the Freestyle. The Figo facelift is expected to be cheaper than the current model.

      6.  Datsun Go Facelift

    The updated Datsun Go is going to launch in September this year and will come with a host of exterior and interior updates. It will get a new front grille, new headlights, LED DRLs and a new bumper to make the car look more attractive. The wing mirrors comes with integrated indicators. The cabin will get a touchscreen infotainment unit.
