Utility vehicles (UVs) are highly popular in India; especially the sports utility vehicles (SUVs) are highly popular in the country as they are in the rest of the world.
Here are the 7 upcoming UV model launches that are expected to take place in India within this calendar year.
1. New-gen Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
The popular Maruti Ertiga compact MPV will be coming in an all-new avatar around the festive season of 2018. The new generation Ertiga will be bigger and will be based on a new lightweight HEARTECT platform. The current 1.4L petrol engine will be replaced by a more powerful 1.5L unit. Both Ertiga petrol and diesel versions will be empowered by the SHVS micro-hybrid technology.
2. Mahindra U321
Mahindra & Mahindra is expected to bring in the brand new U321 MPV also around this year’s festive season. The upcoming new U321 MPV is part of Mahindra’s speculated 3 new UV model launch plan this year, and has been spied on multiple occasions and would get powered by a 1.5L powerful petrol and diesel engines which would also deliver good mileage.
3. Mahindra S201
The second Mahindra model planned to launch this year is the S201. This subcompact SUV is based on the Ssangyong Tivoli platform and will go against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza. It will pack in Mahindra’s new 1.2L petrol and 1.5L diesel motors offering balanced performance and fuel economy.
4. Mahindra XUV700
Mahindra & Mahindra will also launch the new-generation Ssangyong Rexton G4 in India rebadged as a new Mahindra Vehicle. Speculations say that it would be called the Mahindra XUV700. It will be Mahindra’s flagship model and will rival the Toyota Fortuner and the likes.
5. Jeep Compass Trailhawk
The top-end rough and tough Jeep Compass Trailhawk variant will launch in India towards the end this year. The Compass Trailhawk is expected to come with a 9 speed automatic transmission in the diesel version. The same 2.0L Multijet II diesel motor that offers 170 bhp and 350 Nm on the regular version will power the Compass Trailhawk. There will be a host of equipments and exterior updates such as Active Drive low-range 4WD, new Rock drive mode, hill descent control, 20 mm of more ground clearance, better Approach and Departure angles and body decals among others.
6. New-gen Honda CR-V
The new-gen Honda CR-V will also launch towards the end of 2018. It will come with new design language and new features. The CR-V will offer 7-seater configuration for the first time and will also get diesel avatar. The diesel version will get a 1.6L turbocharged motor offering 118 Bhp and 300 Nm, while the petrol version will pack in an updated 2.4L mill.
7. Datsun Go Plus
The Datsun Go Plus recently got updated in the global market and is preparing to hit the Indian market in September this year. The Go Plus MPV will come with a new grille, new bumper design, restyled headlights, LED Daytime Running Lights and ORVMs with integrated indicators. The cabin will also get some slight updates.
