Pro tip: While the Nexa MPV will be based on the Ertiga, it will get a revised exterior design.
Maruti Suzuki is set to introduce a new version of the Ertiga to its Nexa range of dealerships. The MPV, which will get captain seats in the middle instead of a bench, will be a more upmarket derivative of the Ertiga. The MPV was expected to launch around 2019 festive season, but an online report suggests that it would launch on 21 August 2019. Maruti Suzuki is yet to officially announce the launch date of the 6-seat MPV.
While the new MPV for Nexa will be based on the Ertiga, it will get a different exterior design so that it does not look the same as the Ertiga. We expect it to be more feature loaded as well. Apart from captain seats, the other difference in the cabin will be the colour combination. Instead of a black-beige interior theme, the new MPV will feature an all-black cabin.
As far as its powertrain is concerned, the new MPV might just come with a petrol engine only. The Ertiga, however, is currently available with both petrol and diesel engine options. While a manual transmission will certainly be on offer, an automatic version can’t be ruled out since the new MPV is expected to attract private buyers who don’t buy the Ertiga because of its wide application in the commercial space.
Since the Nexa MPV will be an upmarket version of the Ertiga, it will attract a premium over the same. The petrol-powered Ertiga’s prices currently start at Rs 7.45 lakh and go up to Rs 9.96 lakh (all prices ex-showroom Delhi). So the upmarket MPV is likely to cost somewhere around, or above the Rs 10 lakh mark.
