Maruti Suzuki is busy bracing up for the launch of the S-Presso, an entry-level tall hatchback based on the Future-S Concept. It is expected to be launched by the end of September, and now, an online report claims to have revealed its dimensions.
As per the report, the S-Presso will measure 3565mm in length, 1520mm in width and 1564mm in height. That makes it 20mm longer than the Alto K10 and 90mm shorter than the WagonR. If this holds true, then the S-Presso will most likely be slotted in between both Alto K10 and WagonR in Maruti Suzuki’s portfolio, which we do expect. The Maruti Suzuki S-Presso is rumoured to have a ground clearance of 180 mm.
Since the S-Presso is touted to be Maruti Suzuki’s contender in the entry-level SUV-inspired hatchback segment against the Renault Kwid, let us compare dimensions of both the cars. Readers are requested to note that the specifications of the S-Presso are rumoured, and not official.
Difference (w.r.t. S-Presso)
1 inch larger radius
Maruti Suzuki S-Presso’s dimensions suggest that it will be 114mm shorter than the Kwid. Its wheelbase will also be 42mm smaller than that of the Kwid’s, which might make impact its cabin space negatively in comparison. The S-Presso’s spy images have earlier suggested that it would be a tall hatchback, and it will certainly be taller than the Kwid. The rumoured dimension measurements also reflect the same.
The S-Presso is expected to come with a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that is also on offer in the WagonR. The engine, in its existing BS4 version, is capable of generating a maximum power of 68PS along with a 90Nm of peak torque. On the S-Presso, this engine is expected to be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission alongside the option of an AMT. The S-Presso will go on sale through Maruti Suzuki’s Arena dealership outlets across the country, as we reported earlier. Expect it to be priced in the range of Rs 3.7 lakh and Rs 5.4 lakh.
