Rumour: Maruti Suzuki S-Presso Will Get 1.0-litre Petrol Engine; Four Variants

by Jagdev Kalsi on Tuesday, Sep 03 2019

Maruti Suzuki’s upcoming car based on the Future-S concept is rumoured to launch on 30 September 2019. The car will be a direct rival to the Kwid, as its SUV-inspired exterior design suggests. While Maruti Suzuki is yet to officially reveal any information about the car, a new online report suggests that it will be powered by a 1.0-litre, BS6 petrol engine and will be available in four variants.

    Maruti Suzuki S-Presso

Maruti Suzuki is likely to use one of its existing petrol engines on the S-Presso, and the two contenders are: 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre engines. If the S-Presso is set to be positioned under the WagonR, then it will most likely get the 1.0-litre petrol engine only. So, there’s no harm in believing this rumour, in fact, it is more of an obvious fact than any revelation.

As far as the count of variants -- four -- is concerned, whether it is Arena or Nexa, Maruti Suzuki has kept the variants count limited to four only with a few exceptions. You can see the same below, in the car-wise variants list of Maruti Suzuki models:

    Arena models

So, the S-Presso being available in four variants looks more like a guess/speculation than anything else. There’s no harm in it to believe it, since it won’t impact your purchase decision. If the S-Presso gets the Z or Z+ variant, expect it to be equipped with Maruti Suzuki’s SmartPlay Studio infotainment system, like the WagonR.
