The Renault Duster SUV, which was so popular in its initial years after launch in India, and still sells well, have been waiting for its new avatar. The French car maker launched the new generation Duster in the international markets back in 2017, and it was highly anticipated to be coming to India this year. However, it seems that the Indian market have to wait to receive the all new Duster longer, as it is now expected to come only in 2020.
According to the indications by Renault’s new CEO Venkatram Mamillapalle, the company is preparing to bring in two all-new vehicle models in India in 2019 and 2020. He said that the company has set new product launches in 2019 and 2020. One will come in July, 2019, while the other will come next year.
Now, for the uninitiated, it is already known that Renault is preparing full-swing to launch the all-new Kwid-based subcompact MPV that’s still known by its codename RBC. The Renault RBC is known to be scheduled for its India launch in July, 2019. This means that the second generation Duster will be launched here only in 2020.
The new-gen Renault Duster is based on the same B0 platform as its predecessor. This BO platform also underpins the Captur and the Nissan Kicks SUV models. The all new Duster gets an all-new evolutionary exterior design. It looks more matured, bolder, sharper and contemporary, but still retains its unmistakable Duster appeal. According to Renault, the second-gen Duster is a huge improvement as every single panel of the vehicle is new.
Apart from the new exterior design, the interior of the all new Duster is also fully revamped. It comes with contemporary cabin design and a lot of added new features to make the whole package an attractive choice for the modern SUV buyers of India.
Under the hood, the all new Renault Duster is expected to carry forward the same powertrains as the ongoing model. However, Renault might tweak the engines to offer better fuel efficiency and a tad bit of more power. The engines will also definitely be BS-VI compliant.
The Renault Duster compact SUV first launched in India back in 2012 and became a runaway hit. The popular SUV model did receive some mild update ever since. As there’s still time for the second-gen Duster to come to India, Renault is said to be launching another facelift model of the SUV this year.
The updated Duster is likely to flaunt a restyled front fascia, new projector headlamps along with LED DRLs and new alloy wheels.
Very recently, Renault India also endowed the Duster with updated MediaNav infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. The soon to launch refreshed Duster is also expected to offer a few more updates features to keep things fresh.
The all new Renault Duster is likely to be priced similar to the ongoing model’s price range Rs. 7.99 lakhs – Rs. 13.09 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Duster will fight it out with the likes of the upcoming next generation Hyundai Creta, upcoming Kia SP2i and its Japanese cousin Nissan Kicks.
