Japanese car maker Nissan is known to be preparing a slew of new car models for the Indian market. Moreover, Nissan is also contemplating to launch its electric models in this country going by the Indian government’s vision for an EV dominated auto industry by 2030. This vision of the electrified auto industry is making a lot of global car majors to contemplate bringing in their EV representatives in India. Recently, it was reported that Nissan is studying the Indian car market to see if the Nissan Note e-Power hatchback’s launch is feasible. Confirming this report and taking it a step further, the Nissan Note e-Power has been spied in India.

The spy images of the Nissan Note e-Power are doing the rounds on the web world proving that the electric hatch has already come to India. It is thought that Nissan India has imported a unit of the Note e-Power into the country for homologation purposes.

The Japanese auto maker is also expected to be contemplating to bring in the new generation Nissan Leaf electric hatchback in India. However, Nissan has recently revealed that it feels that the Note e-Power electric hatchback, which gets recharged by a small 1,198 cc petrol engine rather than a fixed charging socket will be better suitable for the car buyers of India. This observation of Nissan is very practical, as the Indian market doesn’t have the infrastructure to support wide adoption of electric cars, at least at present the recharging network in India is not encouraging for the Indian car buyers to go for EVs.

While speaking on this development, Nissan Motor’s executive vice president of Global Marketing and Sales, Daniele Schillaci told the media at the Nissan headquarters based in Yokohama that the e-Power technology will be very suitable for the Indian customers. He added by saying that the company has received a request from its Indian team to study the e-Power technology for the domestic car market of the country. Thus, the company is seriously studying the feasibility of launching the Nissan Note e-Power hatch in India.

The Note e-Power hatchback model is first range-extended vehicle from the house of Nissan. The Nissan Note e-Power can run on only electric mode and works like a hybrid car as well. It can run on the power generated only by its petrol motor just like any conventional petrol or hybrid model. It comes with the convenience of recharging its battery pack with the power generated from its petrol engine without having to recharge the batteries from a charging station. This makes the Nissan Note e-Power highly suitable for countries such as India where the EV charging network is still in progress.

Meanwhile, it is already known that Nissan will be launching the Kicks compact SUV and the next generation Micra in India among other upcoming launches. When electric vehicles are concerned we can sure hope to see the Note e-Power coming to our shores, while the all new Leaf might also land up in future.
