Spied: 2018 Hyundai Creta Testing In India

by Swati Sanchayi on Wednesday, Dec 13 2017

South Korean automaker Hyundai is currently preparing the Creta facelift for the launch in the Indian market. The SUV has been spied testing on the Indian roads recently in Yercaud, a hill station in Tamil Nadu, creating the buzz regarding a near future launch in the country. The Creta has been Hyundai’s best-selling SUV since its launch in 2015 and the refreshed version had been showcased as the updated ix25 (that’s what the Creta is called in China) at the 2017 Chengdu Motor Show, China.

Although the spotted mule was heavily camouflages but looking at the spied pictures, we can see the same hexagonal front grille with three slats, flanked by wraparound headlights just like its Brazilian counterpart. We can see silver accent around the front vent, and the bumper with a refreshed look. Other than these, the images also reveal the redesigned fog lamps to fit the revised fog lamp housing. Also, the spied vehicle sports wheel caps instead of alloy and the lacks in chrome trims hinting towards the mule being the base variant of the SUV.

The interior of the SUV is completely undercover till date. However, we can expect Hyundai to revise the dashboard along with new touchscreen infotainment system along with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity features. Also, new tech like ventilated front seats and sunroof like the Hyundai Verna can also be expected from the upcoming Hyundai Creta facelift in the country.

Under the hood, the Hyundai Creta facelift is expected to continue to offer the same 1.6-litre petrol with 123bhp and 151Nm of torque and the 1.4-litre diesel unit with 89bhp and a 126bhp 1.6-litre diesel unit which does duty in the current model while the gearbox options include a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission.

Expected to be launched at the 2018 Auto Expo, the facelifted Hyundai Creta will continue taking against the likes of the Mahindra XUV500, the Renault Duster and the Renault Captur. Stay tuned to for further updates on the upcoming Hyundai Creta.
