German luxury automaker Audi has been preparing to introduce the Q8 ‘SUV with coupe design’ in the auto market. The automaker has been developing the all-new Q8 for quite some time now and has been testing the SUV on the Indian roads as well. Now, finally Audi has officially teased the upcoming SUV with a sketch revealing the rear design details about the coupe like designed SUV.
According to the teased sketch the upcoming Audi Q8 will be offered with roof and a crease along the shoulders converging to lead the eye to the full-length taillight that spans the vehicle. On the other hand, muscular fenders lend a rugged look, and trapezoidal exhaust outlets integrate into the bumper. It is the second official teaser released by the automaker to be followed by a five-part video series leading to the global premiere, which is speculated to happen next month.
Talking more about the new Audi Q8, the Ingolstadt-based carmaker had already showcased the Concept of the SUV at the 2017 Detroit Motor Show. According to Audi, the upcoming Q8 will be the largest coupe SUV that Audi produces and will sit above the Q7 in Audi’s SUV line-up. The SUV will follow Audi’s signature design language such as the chrome strips, hexagonal grille, wheel design and the new Audi tail lamps running across the rear.
Other spy shots have revealed that the Audi Q8 will come with a big grille with narrow headlights flanking it as well as the long hood will lead to a flowing roof giving the new model a sleeker look than the existing Q7. At the interior, the SUV will feature the 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit digital instrument display and replacing many traditional buttons with touchscreens. More appealing and stylish as compared to the Q7, the upcoming Q8 will only be a five-seater SUV. The SUV will be quite luxurious and would have decent off-road hardware in order to make it a comfortable ride for the passengers even where the roads disappear.
Underpinned by Audi’s MLB platform, the Q8 is expected to borrow its powertrain from different SUVs in the segment such as the new-gen VW Touareg, Porsche Cayenne as well as the Lamborghini Urus and Bentley Bentayga. Though the automaker has not yet confirmed but we are hoping to see a hybrid powertrain option with the new Q8 as well. The E-hybrid option in question is a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 and electric motor to generate a total of 438 hp and 700 Nm of torque along with a 17.9 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery allowing for an estimated 37 miles of fully electric drive.
Apart from preparing the standard Q8 SUV for the launch, Audi is also working to introduce the a more potent RS Q8 as the automaker had showcased the Audi Q8 Sport Concept at the Geneva Show last year. The RS Q8 is likely to come powered by the Urus' biturbo 4.0-liter V8 for an output boost to around 650 hp. The Audi Q8 is all set to make its debut next month. When launched, the SUV will rival the likes of the BMW X6 and the Mercedes GLE Coupe. Stay tuned to V3cars.com for further updates on the upcoming Audi Q8.
