The Toyota Vellfire, a luxury MPV that can lock horns with the Mercedes-Benz V-Class, is rumoured to launch in India in 2019. The Vellfire was recently showcased in India to a select people (not media).
Toyota is yet to confirm the launch of Vellfire in India, but it won’t be surprising if the carmaker actually goes ahead and brings the posh MPV to our shores. Given that its prices will be sky-high as it will be a CBU, the Vellfire will certainly not be for the masses. There is a fair chance of a push from a corporate or major travel business for the Vellfire.
The Vellfire is available in either 7- or 8-seat configuration and is larger than the Innova Crysta and even the Toyota Fortuner. It will not be available in India with a diesel engine, but it is likely to feature a hybrid powertrain instead. It could be the same powertrain that powers the Camry Hybrid, and includes a 2.5-litre petrol engine with 180PS power output.
The Vellfire would be a luxury MPV and it will, therefore, be feature loaded. Expect goodies like sunroof, sunshades, ventilated seats, memory option on seats and automatic climate control to be on offer. A price tag in excess of Rs 75 lakh is what Toyota may command for the Vellfire in India.
