American auto major, Ford is readying up to launch the updated model of its highly popular Endeavour premium SUV in India, which is expected to happen by April, 2019. The upcoming Ford Endeavour facelift will get mild exterior design updates in order to offer a fresh touch to the visual appeal of the highly established premium full-sized SUV model in India.
The new updated 2019 Ford Endeavour will be getting a newly styled more aggressive front grille apart from other revised exterior styling elements and new alloy wheels. While the exterior cosmetic changes of the SUV are expected to be limited in number as well as subtle.
On the inside, the Endeavour facelift will be getting some styling updates as well as an updated features list. The feature updates that expected on the facelift model include the new SYNC 3 infotainment system, pushbutton start/stop among others as part of the standard package.
When safety equipments are concerned, the India-spec updated Endeavour model will be getting braced with features like 7 airbags, Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electric Brake-force Distribution (EBD), electronic stability program (ESP), traction control and hill launch assist system that will be carried forward from the current model. The international model also boasts of a number of advanced safety techs such as autonomous emergency braking (AEB) system and pedestrian and vehicle detection, but these are not likely to make it to the India-spec version of the SUV.
At present, the Ford Endeavour 7-seater premium SUV model is available for sale in India powered by a 2.2 litre and a 3.2 litre diesel engine options. Both these oil burners come equipped with a 6 speed automatic transmission gearbox. Only the more powerful 3.2 litre motor gets equipped with a four-wheel drive system on the Titanium model trim.
The latest iteration of the Ford Endeavour was first introduced back in May, 2018. It has been available for sale in the car market of Thailand since July, 2018, where the SUV has been renamed as the Everest following the example of many other global markets, where the SUV is originally known as the Everest. The new Thai-spec Everest gets equipped with a 2.0 litre EcoBlue diesel motor which has been paired with the highly sophisticated new 10-speed automatic transmission gearbox. The engine is offered in two states of tune in the Thai-spec model – 182 PS and 420 Nm, and 215 PS and 500 Nm. However, this engine is not likely to be introduced on the India-spec model, and the SUV is expected to carry forward the current engines from the outgoing model.
The new refreshed Ford Endeavour is not likely to come with a considerable increase as compared against the current price range, while a slight hike is expected. The current Endeavour is available in India at a price range of Rs. 26.83 lakhs to Rs. 33.31 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The updated Endeavour will be equipped better to fight with its direct rivals in India which include the highly popular Toyota Fortuner, the new Mahindra Alturas G4 and the Isuzu mu-X, while its indirect rivals include the likes of the Skoda Kodiaq and Honda CR-V.
