Except the electrically foldable ORVMs, the Hector Super variant covers all the basic features along with most of the missing features of the Style variant. Moreover, the Super variant offers some additional good-to-have features as well.

According to our internal data, the incremental cost of the Super variant over the style is justified in case of both petrol and diesel powertrain options. Hence, we would recommend the Style variant in both petrol-manual and diesel-manual powertrains options. However, spending extra for this variant’s hybrid-manual powertrain will not be very sensible.

What Are The Features of MG Hector Smart Variant?

The Smart variant is available in 3 powertrain options -- hybrid-manual, petrol-automatic and diesel-manual. In case of the hybrid version, the Smart variant is Rs 1.36 lakh more expensive than the Super variant, while the petrol-automatic powertrain is Rs 76,000 costlier than the hybrid-manual version. According to us, for such an extensive list of additional features, it is worth even to spend around Rs 2 lakh. Thus, in terms of value, this variant is worth spending the additional amount, and this is true for all the three powertrain options. Going by its price, we would recommend that you rather consider buying the petrol-automatic or the diesel-manual powertrain options instead of the hybrid version.

The Hector Smart variant offers compelling added functional and safety related features. So, if you can fit the Smart variant into your budget, then we definitely commend that you choose this variant.

What Are The Features of MG Hector Sharp Variant?

The Hector Sharp variant is Rs 1.34 lakh more expensive than the Smart variant in case of the hybrid-manual powertrain, Rs 1.58 lakh costlier in the petrol-automatic version, and Rs 1.41 lakh more expensive in case of the diesel-manual powertrain.

Owing to its extra features, the Sharp variant is worth its additional asking price in case of all the three powertrain options. However, except the curtain airbags, all the other added features of this variant are convenience or style related and are feel-good features. Among these, the value of style related features is more because of the panoramic sunroof. So, it would be more of an emotional decision, if you choose to buy this particular variant.

Let’s sum up all the variants of the MG Hector, to make your buying decision a bit easier.

MG Hector Variants - Which Variant To Buy?

In case of the Hector petrol version, there are now 4 powertrain options -- petrol-manual, petrol-DCT, petrol-CVT and hybrid-manual.

For the budget buyers, the Hector Super variant with the petrol-manual powertrain will be suitable. This variant covers almost all must-have features according to its price, while not compromising on value either.

If you wish to enjoy a more feature-rich variant of the Hector, then the Smart variant suitably loaded to suit your preference. In this variant, it will be better to choose the petrol-automatic over the hybrid-manual powertrain. Choosing this you will compromise on the fuel efficiency, but due to the automatic transmission it will offer enhanced driving ease. MG officially recommends the CVT transmission option for the city drive focused buyers, and we also agree with this.

Lastly, for those buyers who would like to get more feel-good features along with a sunroof and can stretch their budget, the Sharp variant is definitely the pick. The Sharp variant’s added features do justify its additional premium, and choosing it will be sensible for those who wouldn’t mind stretching their budget to enjoy extra convenience and style.
