Hyundai have quietly updated the variant lineup of the Creta Electric for the 2026 model year, discontinuing all Smart variants equipped with the smaller 42kWh battery pack. Until recently, buyers could opt for the Creta Electric 42kWh in multiple Smart trims, including Smart, Smart (O), Smart (O) HC and Smart (O) HC Dual Tone. With these variants now removed from the brochure, the Smart variant is available exclusively with the larger 51.4kWh battery pack.

For prospective buyers, the removal of the Smart 42kWh variants significantly alters the entry point into the Creta Electric range. The 42kWh battery option was positioned as the more accessible and cost-conscious option, offering lower upfront price while still delivering the core Creta Electric experience. Its removal from the Smart variants means customers seeking a mid-spec variant now have to step up to the bigger battery, which is priced at a premium of just over Rs. 2 lakh.
This move also reshapes the value equation for buyers who prioritise features over maximum range. Earlier, the Smart and Smart (O) variants with the 42kWh battery offered a balance between features and affordability. With the Smart variant now paired only with the 51.4kWh battery, customers effectively pay a premium of Rs. 2 lakh even if their daily usage does not demand it.

From Hyundai’s perspective, this rationalisation likely helps streamline production and steer buyers towards higher-margin configurations. The 51.4kWh battery offers a longer claimed range, which should help serve evolving customer expectations and tackle the growing competition in the electric C-SUV segment.
For buyers considering the Creta Electric in 2026, the decision now becomes more straightforward but also more expensive at the Smart trim level. Those looking for a lower-priced Creta Electric will have to explore lower variants with the smaller battery, while customers opting for Smart variants must factor in the cost of the larger 51.4kWh battery pack.
