Top 5 Features Of Tata Punch EV 2026 | V3Cars

Tata Motors have launched the 2026 Punch EV facelift with prices ranging from Rs. 9.69 lakh to Rs. 12.59 lakh (ex-showroom). While the design changes are subtle, Tata have made significant upgrades where it truly matters – battery capacity, charging speed, pricing and durability.

Here are the top 5 features and things to know about the 2026 Punch EV facelift.

Tata Punch EV Facelift Top 5 Highlights

1. Bigger Battery Pack & Improved Range

The biggest update to the 2026 Punch EV is the introduction of larger battery pack options. Earlier, the Punch was offered with a 25kWh and 35kWh battery pack option. These gave the small electric SUV a real world range of 190-210km and 270-290km, respectively.

The new Punch EV facelift offers 2 new battery pack options – 30kWh and 40kWh. Tata claim the new 40kWh battery pack offers a real-world range of 335-355km per charge, which is a significant improvement over the outgoing 35kWh version. However, based on our experience with Tata’s and other electric cars, we can safely suggest a real-world range of 300-330km from Punch EV 40. This pushes the Punch EV closer to larger and more expensive EVs in terms of usable range.

For buyers concerned about rear-world usability, this upgrade alone makes the facelift a substantial improvement over the outgoing model.

2. Lower Prices Despite Bigger Batteries

Despite offering larger battery packs, Tata have reduced prices across the board. Depending on the variant, the new Punch EV is Rs. 30,000 to Rs. 1.35 lakh more affordable than before. Effectively, buyers now get bigger batteries and more range at lower prices.

3. Faster Charging And Improved Battery Tech

Tata Motors have also improved charging performance significantly thanks to the adoption of LFP prismatic cells. Key improvements include:

  • Up to 135km range added in 15 minutes (90km earlier)
  • 20-80% DC fast charging in 26 mins

The ability to gain 135km of range in just 15 minutes makes the Punch EV far more practical for highway runs and intercity travel than before. This along with a larger battery makes it an excellent choice for buyers who want an affordable and compact electric car.

During the launch, Tata Motors also stated that the new battery packs offer a 10% improvement in energy density. This allows the Punch EV to offer better driving range with a nominal increase in range.

4. Improved Ground Clearance And Water Wading

The Punch EV now offers 195mm ground clearance, an improvement of 5mm over the older model. Additionally, the 2026 Punch EV now offers 450mm certified water wading depth. This is a significant improvement in its water resistance. It has gone from a mere IP67 water ingress protection for the motor and battery to a full 450mm water wading capacity. Thus, it has now become a car you can more confidently drive during our monsoons and water loggings.

5. Lifetime Battery Warranty

Another update worth highlighting is the introduction of a lifetime battery warranty for variants equipped with the 40kWh battery pack. Earlier, the Punch EV was offered with an 8-year or 1.6 lakh km warranty for the battery pack. The lifetime battery warranty not only suggests Tata are confident about their latest product but it also addresses concerns of long-term battery degradation. We wish Tata also gave the same confidence of lifetime warranty to the Punch EV 30 buyers.

Please note that the term ‘Lifetime’ here refers to the period of 15 years for the first owner from the first date of vehicle registration.
