2025 Kia Carens EV Spotted Again – Front-Facing Charging Port, ADAS Confirmed | V3Cars
Kia India are currently testing the Carens EV ahead of its launch in the coming months. Based on spy shots captured earlier, we can confirm that the all-electric Carens will be based on the upcoming Carens facelift. When launched, the new Carens EV is expected to be the most affordable 7-seater electric MPV in India.
Kia Carens EV Spied – ADAS Confirmed
The latest spy shots of the Carens EV show a heavily camouflaged MPV adorning a car cover undergoing charging at an EV charging station. Since spy shots of the Carens EV test mule have emerged online earlier as well, the team testing the electric MPV may have partially covered the car while charging it to avoid attention from car spotters and to prevent a glimpse into its interior and features.

As seen in previous spy shots, the Carens EV’s charging port is located in the front fascia and we can even spot ADAS sensors placed underneath it. In terms of design, we expect the Carens EV to get a Kia EV5-inspired front end with a triangular housing for the LED headlamps flanked by slim LED DRLs. The front bumper is expected to feature a chunky silver-finished faux skid plate while the sides could feature black-coloured lower body cladding. At the rear, we expect the Carens EV to feature new LED connected taillamps, rear bumper with a faux silver skid plate and a flat tailgate design with ‘KIA’ lettering. The Carens EV test mule here is seen with 19-inch aero-optimised alloy wheels and we expect the production-spec electric MPV to feature the same wheels as well.
On the inside, we expect Kia to update the dashboard layout of the Carens EV and give it a new steering wheel and drive mode selector. The Carens EV could also offer different seat upholstery than the Carens petrol and diesel variants.
Kia Carens EV – Expected Powertrain Specs
While Kia India are yet to reveal the exact electric motor and battery specifications of the upcoming Carens EV, we expect it to borrow several components from the Hyundai Creta EV. Thus, the Carens EV could be offered with a choice of 2 battery packs – 42kWh and 51.4kWh.
The Creta EV equipped with the smaller battery pack produces 135PS of power while the higher variants offer 171PS of power. At 255Nm, the torque remains the same regardless of the battery capacity. The ARAI-claimed range of the Creta EV is 390km for the 42kWh variants and 473km for the 51.4kWh variants. The Carens EV could offer a marginally lower range due to its slightly larger dimensions and extra seating capacity.
