Maruti Suzuki Issue Largest-Ever Recall For Grand Vitara Over Fuel Gauge Issue | V3Cars

Maruti Suzuki have issued a major recall for the Grand Vitara SUV. According to data published through industry channels, a total of 39,506 units have been affected, making it the largest Grand Vitara recall since its launch in 2022.

Maruti Suzuki Issue Largest-Ever Recall For Grand Vitara SUV

This is the 4th recall for the Grand Vitara, coming after 3 previous campaigns over unrelated issues. The latest recall focuses on a potential inaccuracy in the fuel level indicator and low-fuel warning light inside the instrument cluster.

Details Of The Latest Grand Vitara Recall

The recall covers Grand Vitara units manufactured between December 9, 2024 and April 29, 2025. As per the official note shared by Maruti Suzuki, the fuel gauge in some vehicles may not correctly display the amount of fuel in the tank.

This means owners could experience:

  • Incorrect fuel level readings
  • Low-fuel warning not triggering at the right time
  • Possible inconvenience during long journeys
  • Higher risk of the vehicle running out of fuel unexpectedly

While the issue does not pose an immediate safety hazard, it still requires inspection and correction to ensure proper functioning of the vehicle’s instrument cluster assembly.

Impact On Grand Vitara Owners

A faulty fuel gauge may not accurately reflect real-time fuel status. In extreme cases, this may lead to:

  • Misjudging refuelling intervals
  • Unexpected engine shutdown due to an empty tank
  • Drivers being stranded in remote locations

Since this can directly affect day-to-today usability, Maruti Suzuki have taken the precautionary step of recalling all potentially impacted units.

Maruti Suzuki’s Response & What Affected Owners Should Do

Maruti Suzuki will reach out to customers whose vehicles fall within the affected manufacturing period. The corrective steps include:

  • Inspection of the fuel level indicator component
  • Replacement of faulty parts if required
  • All work carried out completely free of cost

Owners don’t need to wait for dealer communication. You can proactively check if your Grand Vitara is part of the recall by:

  1. Visiting Maruti Suzuki’s official recall webpage
  2. Entering your vehicle’s chassis number (VIN)

If your SUV is part of the recall, you should:

  • Contact your nearest Maruti Suzuki service centre
  • Schedule an inspection appointment
  • Avoid long-distance travel until the gauge is verified
