Production-Spec Renault Kiger Debut On 28 January | V3Cars

Renault showcased its sub-4m SUV -- Kiger -- in the concept form in November 2020 giving us a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming Sonet-rival. The carmaker will unveil the production-spec Kiger on 28 January 2020 now. We expect it to go on sale by March 2021.

Renault Kiger

The Kiger is based on the CMF A+ platform, the same that underpins the Nissan Magnite and Renault Triber. The similarities between these cars will not be limited to just the platform, as the Kiger will also share its powertrains with its siblings.

Like the Magnite, the Kiger will also be offered with petrol engines only. In the lower variants, it should get a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine making 72PS and 96Nm mated to a 5-speed MT. Like on the Magnite, there should be a turbocharged petrol engine on offer as well -- the 1.0-litre engine making 100PS and 160Nm, paired to either a 5-speed MT or a CVT.

It is likely that the Kiger will share a lot of equipment with the Magnite. So expect it to get features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, electronic stability control, traction control, hill launch assist and a 360-degree parking camera. Other features on offer may include a digital instrument cluster, air purifier, ambient lighting, cruise control, wireless mobile charging, auto AC and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Prices of the Renault Kiger are expected to range from Rs 5 lakh and go up to Rs 9 lakh. It will take on the likes of the Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon, Maruti Vitara Brezza and the Toyota Urban Cruiser.
