During the reveal of the Tata Curvv concept, we got to know that in its production form, it will feature multi-level regenerative braking. Along with the Curvv, all upcoming EVs from Tata Motors will get this feature. We expect to see this feature first in the long-range Tata Nexon EV.

While the 2 Tata EVs currently on sale in India get regen braking, the driver cannot decide its intensity. Regen braking is a feature found in electric cars. When the driver lifts their foot off the accelerator paddle, the car automatically starts to slow down. The kinetic energy of the car is then stored in the battery to boost the range.

Most EVs sold in India get variable regen braking. Here, the driver is able to change the intensity or levels of this process via either paddle shifters or the infotainment system. The higher the intensity, the quicker the car will slow down and the more additional range you will get.

However, the Nexon EV and Tigor EV do not get multi-level regen braking. They just have a single level of regen braking, which might not suit the driving style of all drivers. To deal with this, Tata will provide multi-level regen braking in their upcoming EVs. The first one to get this feature could be the long-range Nexon EV, which is likely to launch on April 20. The production version of the Curvv concept will get variable regen braking too.
