What Are The Pros And Cons Of Maruti Suzuki Victoris?

The pros or advantages of 2026 Maruti Suzuki Victoris are:

  • A neat SUV design with simple, straight lines and plush interior
  • Option of 4 powertrains (petrol-manual, petrol-auto, hybrid petrol-auto & CNG-manual) & 2 drivetrains (front-wheel drive & 4-wheel drive)
  • Maruti’s immense service network and tried & tested powertrains means maintenance as well as access to spares should be easy and affordable with option of OEM as well as OEM-spec parts
  • Fantastic ARAI mileage figures with all powertrains
  • CNG option with a usable boot space
  • CNG offers superior value for money, especially with the base model (this is after factoring in lower boot space volume, lower performance figures and lower fuel costs with Delhi fuel prices and ARAI mileage)
  • Most loaded Maruti car ever as it gets features like powered tail gate, 8-way power driver seat, multi-colour ambient lighting, 5.1 sound system with Dolby Atmos tuning, front parking sensors, radar-based ADAS & blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, etc.
  • Surprisingly well-loaded base model with must-have features like front & rear armrests, split rear seatbacks, tilt & telescopic steering, rear defogger, halogen projector headlamps, touchscreen w/ wireless phone connectivity, rear reading lamps, keyless entry & go, power mirrors and all adjustable headrests
  • 5-star BNCAP rating with standard safety features like ESC, HSA, traction control, rear defogger, 6 airbags, ABS and 5x 3-point seatbelts
  • Option of buying the top model without sunroof

The Maruti Victoris 2026 has the following shortcomings or problems:

  • Dull powertrain options; the 1.5L normal engine is in dire need of a 6th gear with manual transmission but it doesn’t get it; this situation gets worse with CNG because of its lower performance; meanwhile, the automatic is geared taller and isn’t peppy for city use and the hybrid gets a 3-cylinder engine, which is not great in terms of refinement for a car of this size and segment
  • E-parking brake is not available with manual transmission and hybrid petrol powertrain (not available with hybrid and manual transmission; Sierra gets it as standard equipment)
  • Panoramic sunroof is not available with any CNG variant
  • Hybrid adds to the mechanical complexity and long term maintenance cost as you can neither find competent mechanics nor the right spares at local garages to repair the car should you need any assistance
  • No spare wheel in any variant may affect the buying decision of some buyers
  • Missing features such as rear window curtains, memory for power driver seat, electronic parking brake (not available with hybrid and manual transmission)
  • ADAS limited to petrol-automatic powertrain only; not even available with hybrid powertrain

What Is The Price Of Maruti Suzuki Victoris Variants?

The Maruti Victoris 2026 is available with the following 4 powertrain options:

  • 1.5L normal petrol-manual (5-speed): This powertrain option is available across all 6 variants of the Victoris. The manual transmission variants of the Victoris petrol are available from Rs. 10.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The top variant of Victoris with this powertrain costs Rs.  15.82 lakh.
  • 1.5L normal petrol-automatic (6-speed TC): The normal petrol-automatic powertrain is available in all variants (5) except for the base model. The Victoris normal petrol-automatic variant pricing starts from Rs. 13.36 lakh and goes up to Rs. 19.22 lakh (ex-sh). The automatic transmission costs Rs. 1.56 - 1.95 lakh more than the comparable petrol-manual trims. It’s worth noting that the higher trims of the Victoris automatic costing Rs. 1.95 lakh more than similar MT variants also offer ADAS features. Moreover, the top 2 variants of the Victoris also offer the option of 4WD for a premium of Rs. 1.45 lakh over comparable petrol-automatic trims.
  • 1.5L normal CNG-manual (5-speed): The CNG powertrain option is available only in the lower 3 variants (LXI, VXI and ZXI). Victoris CNG variants cost between Rs. 11.50 lakh and Rs. 14.57 lakh (ex-sh). That’s a premium of Rs. 1.0 lakh over the comparable normal petrol-manual trims. It is higher than usual but the Victoris CNG also gets a usable boot with the CNG tank under the body.
  • 1.5L hybrid petrol-automatic (CVT): The hybrid petrol-automatic powertrain is available in all (5) but the base variant. The hybrid petrol range costs between Rs. 16.38 lakh and Rs. 19.99 lakh (ex-sh). For a superior fuel efficiency, this powertrain carries a premium of Rs. 2.22 lakh to Rs. 3.02 lakh over the comparable petrol-automatic variants. It’s worth noting that the higher variants of Victoris don’t get ADAS features, which are available with the normal petrol-automatic trims.

The Victoris LXI petrol-manual seems like a reasonably well-loaded option for the asking price and it’s a good choice for budget-conscious buyers.

After factoring in the current fuel cost differences with ARAI mileage figures and Delhi fuel prices, for driving of 1 lakh kilometer during the ownership, the Victoris CNG-manual manages to deliver 130% value for money. It’s the only one variant-engine-transmission combination in the entire Victoris lineup to earn our top recommendation. Do note that we haven’t just considered the fuel cost savings here. We have also included the perceived loss of value for the CNG model from lower power/torque figures and the smaller boot space compared to the Victoris petrol. The fact that it still managed to earn our top recommendation is commendable.

2026 Maruti Suzuki Victoris LXI vs VXI Variant — Feature Comparison

In addition to the petrol-manual & CNG-manual powertrains, the VXI variant of the Victoris also gets the option of petrol-automatic and hybrid petrol-automatic. 2026 Victoris VXI petrol-manual, CNG-manual, petrol-auto and hybrid powertrain options carry an ex-showroom price of Rs. 11.80 lakh, Rs. 12.80 lakh, Rs. 13.36 lakh and Rs. 16.38 lakh (ex-showroom).

Here too, the CNG costs Rs. 1.0 lakh more than petrol-manual for buyers interested in lowering their fuel costs. For Rs. 1.56 lakh more than VXI petrol-manual, you can get the Victoris VXI variant with petrol-automatic powertrain option. If you are interested in higher efficiency and lower fuel costs with an automatic transmission, then you can choose the hybrid powertrain. However, for the luxury of longer refueling intervals and better mileage, you’ll have to pay Rs. 3.02 lakh more than VXI petrol-automatic.

Compared to the lower LXI variant, the VXI trims cost Rs. 1.30 lakh more.

  • Rear window curtains
  • Speakers (only 2 speaker & 2 tweeter setup)
  • Electronic parking brake (not available with hybrid)
  • Rear washer wiper
  • LED projector headlamps

The Victoris VXI petrol-manual is extremely overpriced for offering very few features at an inflated incremental price over the base model. It only offers about 50% of perceived value over the base trim for the additional features. So, it’s not recommended.

The Victoris CNG-manual continues to ride on the low fuel costs and has a VFM score of 84%. It’s good but not as good as that of the base model, which offers 130% VFM score. So, it’s worth considering for a balanced ownership experience but LXI CNG remains our top pick.

The Victoris VXI petrol-automatic is the most affordable option and worth considering if you’re on a tight budget. However, its 64% VFM score is not too impressive. Still, we think it’s a good option for budget buyers because the next ZXI and ZXI (O) variants neither add enough must-have features nor have a very high VFM score.

The VXI hybrid petrol-automatic offers a pathetic VFM score of only 52% over base trim. This means, you’re paying almost twice as much over the LXI petrol-manual for the extra features and higher mileage. For this VFM score, we have also factored in the lower boot space volume, higher power & torque figures and the superior mileage of the hybrid. At current Delhi fuel prices and with ARAI mileage figures as the baseline, you’ll have a km-to-breakeven figure of more than 2,50,000km. That means, just to recover the higher upfront cost of Rs. 3.0 lakh or so, you’ll have to drive the car for more than 2.5 lakh kilometres. Such a high km-to-breakeven figure makes almost all Victoris hybrid variants very difficult to recommend.

New Maruti Suzuki Victoris VXI vs ZXI & ZXI (O) Variant — Feature Comparison

The ZXI and ZXI (O) variants mostly retain the same powertrain options as the lower VXI variant. ZXI (O) variant onwards, you don’t get the CNG-manual powertrain option. So, for Victoris CNG buyers, the ZXI is the top variant.

ZXI petrol-manual costs Rs. 13.57 lakh while ZXI CNG-manual adds another Rs. 1.0 lakh to the ex-showroom price. Here, too, the premium for the convenience of an automatic transmission is Rs. 1.56 lakh over the petrol-automatic as it costs Rs. 15.13 lakh (ex-sh).

For another Rs. 2.67 lakh over the VXI automatic, you can buy the Victoris ZXI with the hybrid powertrain, which carries an ex-showroom price tag of Rs. 17.80 lakh. This premium for upgrading to hybrid is considerably smaller than that for the Victoris VXI hybrid buyers. Hence, the ZXI variants end up costing Rs. 1.77 lakh over VXI except in the case of the ZXI hybrid, which is only Rs. 1.42 lakh pricier than VXI hybrid.

ZXI (O) variant with the panoramic sunroof carries a premium of Rs. 51,000 - 59,000 over the ZXI.

  • Rear window curtains
  • Speakers (only 2 speaker & 2 tweeter setup)
  • Electronic parking brake (not available with hybrid)
  • Front parking sensors
  • Front seat ventilation

In our calculations, the Victoris ZXI petrol-manual earns a lowly score of just 61% while ZXI (O) gets 69%. Hence, neither of these are worth recommending. You should consider stretching your budget for the ZXI Plus or ZXI Plus (O) variants, which offer much better VFM scores.

ZXI CNG is worth considering with a 78% VFM score, which is reasonable but lower than the other two CNG variants.

For Victoris petrol-automatic buyers also, ZXI and ZXI (O) remain low in our recommendation list for their low VFM scores. ZXI Plus and ZXI Plus (O) are superior options and worth upgrading not only for a richer ownership experience but because they offer a better value for money score.

Similarly, Victoris ZXI and ZXI (O) hybrid are also not recommend. Here too, we’ll suggest stretching your budget for the ZXI Plus or ZXI Plus (O) trims as they offer a slightly better value for money score.

New Maruti Suzuki Victoris ZXI vs ZXI Plus & ZXI Plus (O) Variant — Feature Comparison

The ZXI Plus and ZXI Plus (O) variants don’t get CNG powertrain but they add the 4WD option to the mix.

ZXI Plus petrol-manual and hybrid petrol-automatic cost Rs. 1.67 lakh more than the ZXI with similar powertrain options. However, the ZXI normal petrol-automatic costs Rs. 2.06 lakh more as it adds ADAS features to the mix.

For another Rs. 1.45 lakh over the ZXI petrol-automatic, you can buy it with the 4-wheel-drivetrain.

The ZXI Plus (O) offers the options of a panoramic sunroof for an extra Rs. 52,000 - 58,000. This means, buyers who don’t want a car with a sunroof can still buy the top variant with all the features — minus the sunroof.

You may miss the following features in the ZXI Plus/ZXI Plus (O) variant:

  • Memory for power driver seat

Lastly, the Victoris top model is recommended for a feature-rich ownership experience and superior value for money than the lower ZXI trim. This recommendation is valid for all applicable powertrains — petrol-manual, petrol-automatic, hybrid petrol-automatic.

If you are interested in the 4WD capabilities, then the ZXI Plus and ZXI Plus (O) 4WD with petrol-automatic powertrain are both worth considering but neither offers an outstanding VFM score. They deliver around 85-90% of perceived value over the base petrol-manual with additional features for the incremental price.

Which Variant Of The Maruti Suzuki Victoris Should You Buy?

Let’s simplify the buying recommendation for you starting with the petrol-manual powertrain.

Here, the base model is a good option and worth buying if you have a hard ceiling on the budget and can’t go much higher. Next, VXI is highly overpriced and not recommended while ZXI and ZXI (O) are overpriced but worth considering. For a feature-rich ownership experience and a decent VFM score, the ZXI Plus and ZXI Plus (O) are your only options.

For Victoris CNG buyers, the LXI variant is a surprisingly good value for money option, even though it doesn’t get a few must-have features. 130% VFM score is very difficult to ignore. VXI and ZXI are worth considering but neither comes even close to challenging the LXI in terms of sheer value.

Among the Victoris petrol-automatic variants, VXI is worth considering for budget-conscious buyers despite a poor VFM score. That’s because the next variants are outright not recommended according to our value algorithm. If you’re interested in a bunch more upmarket features, then you should skip the ZXI and ZXI (O) trims and jump straight to the ZXI Plus or ZXI Plus (O) depending on your preference for a sunroof. They’re all far superior than the lower trims.

For Victoris hybrid buyers, the most affordable VXI variant is just not recommended for offering a pathetic VFM score of just 52%. The higher ZXI and ZXI (O) trims are also not recommended. While ZXI Plus and ZXI Plus (O) aren’t able to deliver much better value for money score because of a steep premium for the hybrid powertrain, at least they aren’t any worse than the lower trims. So, for Victoris buyers, only the top variant is worth considering. Despite a lower premium of about Rs. 2.25 lakh over petrol-automatic for the hybrid powertrain, you will still need almost 2 lakh kilometres of driving just to recover the higher upfront cost.
