Tata Safari Facelift Spotted With New Features — 360-degree Parking Camera And ADAS | V3Cars

Tata Motors are likely to introduce the updated 2022 Safari facelift soon. The spotted car reveals a couple of new features, including a 360-degree parking camera, revised front grille and LED tail lights. Tata could showcase the updated Harrier and Safari at the 2023 Auto Expo.

2022 Tata Safari Facelift

Tata Motors launched the Safari back in February 2021 and after one and a half years later, a facelift is already in the pipeline. Credit for this goes to the fierce competition from the Mahindra XUV700. The XUV700 offers some impressive features, such as 360-degree parking camera and ADAS. If you are a fan of the design of the Safari, fret not as Tata are not likely to give it a major exterior overhaul. Instead, the carmaker will focus on catching up with the XUV700 in terms of the features on offer.

Let’s talk about the design changes first. Up front, the spied Safari facelift wears a tweaked grille with chrome surrounds. In addition to that, the LED DRLs look slightly revised too. Heavy camouflage on the headlight clusters could mean some subtle changes in this area as well. At the the side, the new Safari facelift continues to ride on 18-inch alloy wheels, albeit with a new design. At the rear, the spotted car had a bulbous set of LED tail lights jutting out from the body, which could mean a new set of tail lights as well.

On the features front, while the spied SUV didn’t reveal much, the recently-spotted Harrier facelift had cameras mounted on the side ORVMs. Hence, it is safe to assume that the new Safari facelift will also get a 360-degree camera. Interestingly, the Tata logo on the Safari test car was covered with camouflage. While its a common practice for cars on test, this could also mean that Tata might give the Safari it’s new ‘T’ logo while incorporating the ADAS sensor within the grille — something similar to what we have seen Mercedes-Benz’s cars.

On the powertrain front, we expect the new Safari to carry forward the current 2.0L FCA-sourced turbo diesel engine. In its current state, this engine produces 170PS of power at 3750rpm and 350Nm of torque between 1750rpm and 2500rpm. This engine comes with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Regarding the long-rumoured petrol engine, we reported that Tata Motors will not offer their turbo petrol engine with the Harrier and Safari owing to future emission norms. For now, we expect both the Harrier and Safari SUVs to stick with the 2.0L turbo diesel engine.
