Kia India launched the 2025 Carens Clavis in May this year at a starting price of Rs. 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Now, Kia are set to reveal the Carens Clavis EV, their first mass-market electric vehicle for the Indian market, on July 15. Ahead of its official debut, let’s take a look at what you can expect from the Carens Clavis EV.

The Kia Carens Clavis EV is expected to largely resemble its ICE counterpart in overall design, but with a few EV styling cues. Various spy shots from the past year have confirmed the Carens Clavis EV will feature the charging port on the front fascia. Thus, expect the electric MPV to get a closed off grille and slightly tweaked bumpers to accommodate the charging port and aid aerodynamic efficiency.
From the side, the EV version could get a new set of alloy wheels, potentially with aero-optimised covers to improve efficiency. Features like roof rails, body-coloured outside rearview mirrors, and rugged side cladding are expected to remain similar to the ICE model. At the rear, expect connected LED tail lamps with a light bar, specific EV badging, and a revised bumper to set it apart. A distinct colour palette is also expected to further differentiate it from the ICE model.
Inside, the cabin layout of the Carens Clavis EV is expected to mirror the standard Carens Clavis. However, Kia could adorn the Carens Clavis EV with a new colour scheme. The EV is expected to be offered in both 6-seater (with captain seats for the 2nd row) and 7-seater (with bench seats) configurations, offering flexibility for families.
The Carens Clavis EV will offer similar features as its ICE counterpart. Hence, we can expected Kia to offer a digital key for convenient access and a power-adjustable co-driver’s seat with a ‘boss mode’, allowing rear passengers to adjust the front seat for more legroom. The captain seat variant in the second row could also get ventilated seats for enhanced comfort. As an EV, it will support EV-specific functionalities like Vehicle-to-Load (V2L), enabling the car to power external appliances, and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging, allowing it to share power with other EVs.
Beyond these additions, the Carens Clavis EV is likely to retain popular features from the existing Carens Clavis such as:
On the safety front, the Clavis EV is expected to offer features such as:
While Kia have not yet revealed the exact powertrain details, the Carens Clavis EV is expected to share its electric platform and battery setup with the Hyundai Creta Electric. This suggests it could offer multiple battery pack options, including a 42kWh variant paired with a 135PS electric motor with a range of around 390km on a full charge and a larger 51.4 kWh battery option with a more powerful 171PS motor, delivering a range of up to 473km. Overall, a claimed range of around 400-500km is expected.
We expect the Kia Carens Clavis EV to be priced from around Rs. 16 lakh (ex-showroom). When launched, it is expected to serve as a more affordable alternative to the BYD eMax 7 in the electric MPV segment. It will also serve as an electric alternative to popular ICE-based MPVs like the Toyota Innova Hycross and Maruti Invicto, catering to buyers looking for a spacious and eco-friendly family vehicle.
