Kia currently has the following 3 cars on sale in India:
Kia competes in the following X segments:
- B2-segment SUV
- C-segment SUV
- Limousine MPV (>5.0 meters in length)
Kia’s 2 cars have a petrol engine, all 3 cars have a diesel engine, and 2 cars have both. Kia doesn’t have an electric on sale in India. Kia Cars currently has 150 dealerships and about 125 service centres spread across the country. Their sales and service network is expanding rapidly to accommodate the needs of a fast-growing customer base.
All three of Kia’s cars entered different segments with vastly different levels of competition. The Carnival had no competition whatsoever as it sits between the Toyota Innova and a Mercedes V-Class. The Seltos had some competition from cars like the Scorpio, Creta, Duster and Kicks. Lastly, the Sonet is entering, what looks like, a saturated sub-4m, B2 SUV segment.
Despite being one of the newest entrants in India, Kia cars has made a name for itself and already found a spot in the top 5 automakers by volume. Kia car price should help them grow their market share and enter the top 3 positions leaving Hyundai and Maruti as the only competitors. Kia car has a plant in Anantpur, Andhra Pradesh. This facility will not only make the Sonet for India market but will also export it to western countries like the US and Europe.
