2026 Hyundai Creta Electric Claimed Range Goes Up By 30-37km; Now Also Supports Faster 100kW DC Fast Charging | V3Cars

Thanks to Team-BHP for bringing this Creta Electric update to our attention. The Creta Electric’s claimed range (MIDC 1+2) has crossed some important psychological barriers. Also, the car now supports 100kW DC fast charging.

Now w/ 500km+ Range & 100kW DC Support

Hyundai Creta Electric Range Now 500km+

With the smaller battery pack (42kWh), it now has an official range figure of 420km — up from 390km earlier. Meanwhile, the larger battery pack with 51.4kWh capacity was earlier promising to deliver 473km of range. Now, it is promising 510km of range without any increase in battery size.

This is a notable jump of ~7.75% in claimed range figures while the rest of the specs remain identical. We have known pretty much since we first drove the Creta Electric that the Koreans have a strong grasp of electric powertrains. Both, the Creta EV and the Carens EV, offer phenomenal mileage of 8-9kmpu in real-world driving conditions even after accounting for elevation changes. These new claimed range figures seem to have crossed critical psychological barriers of 400km and 500km for the smaller and larger battery packs, respectively. Thus, the Creta Electric may now start to appear more appealing to a larger number of buyers.

We have reached out to Hyundai for an official response about the range improvement so we can learn if this is just a testing technicality or if they have managed to actually improve the car’s range in real-world driving as well. We are yet to receive a response and we will provide an update as soon as we have an official statement on this matter. So, stay tuned to V3Cars for that.

Hyundai Creta Electric DC Fast Charging Speed Now At 100kW

Another Creta Electric update has to do with the charging speed. When the Kia Clavis EV launched, it had an edge over the Creta Electric in terms of powertrain specs. The Carens EV was capable of fast charging using a 100kW DC charger while the Creta Electric could not benefit from a charger more powerful than one with 50kW peak power output. Right from the start, the Clavis EV’s 10-80% charging time was 39 minutes while the Creta EVs stood at 58 minutes.clavis-ev-brochure
Now, though, the Creta Electric is capable of charging faster using a 100kW charger in exactly the same time as the Carens EV, which is 39 minutes.

The benefit of faster charging speed is being passed on to existing Creta Electric owners in a phased manner via a software update. Newer models rolling off the factory will come with the updated software and will support faster DC charging from day 1.

Hyundai Creta Electric — No Torque Info!

Another notable bit of information is that there's no mention of the Creta Electric’s torque figure on Hyundai India’s website. The Creta EV’s torque figure is not only missing on the website, but also in the brochure.

This is surprising since it has a healthy 255Nm of peak torque and being an electric car, most of that torque is available pretty much as soon as you start rolling. So, the initial acceleration and the rolling acceleration for overtakes, both are excellent. In fact, despite a comparable torque figure, the real-world acceleration feel of Creta EV is superior to that of the Creta turbo petrol, which has 253Nm of torque.

We have no clue why Hyundai would want to keep the Creta Electric’s torque figure a secret. The Carens EV, which shares the motor and battery pack options with the Creta EV, has a confirmed peak torque output of 255Nm mentioned in the brochure.

If you can think of a reason why Hyundai may not want to convey the Creta Electric’s torque output, kindly let us know in the comments.
