Mahindra Scorpio Gets A New Base Spec S3+ Variant | V3Cars

Just when we thought Mahindra is all set to launch the new Scorpio, the carmaker has in fact launched a new base-spec S3+ variant of the current model. The Scorpio was offered in four variants until now: S5, S7, S9 and S11. So S3+ is now the fifth and entry-level variant in the lineup.

Mahindra Scorpio

Under the hood, the Scorpio S3+ gets a detuned version of the 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine. It makes 120PS of power and 280Nm of torque, 20PS and 39Nm less than what it makes on other variants of the Scorpio. The detuned engine is offered with a 5-speed manual transmission in place of the 6-speed manual on offer on higher variants of the Scorpio.

Features on offer include manual AC, power windows, tilt-adjustable steering, manual ORVMs, dual front airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors. Compared to the S5, it misses out on body-coloured ORVMs, bumpers, side footstep and speed sensing auto door lock. Like the S5, the Scorpio S3+ is also available as a 7- and 9-seater only.

With the introduction of the new base variant, prices of the Scorpio now start from Rs 11.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The S3+ variant costs Rs 68,000 less than S5 variant that retails at Rs 12.67 lakh.
